you know what really bugs me?

i know we all do some buying from E-Bay but I hate it when you pay for stuff and do not see the feedback till after you leave them feedback.

I have noticed more and more sellers not leaveing feedback till they get feedback I will say of the 42 auctions I have won in the last week I have gotten 3 feedbacks left and one is from a fellow board member.
what do you think about this practice i think we should be able to leave a feedback after they leave to mention this practice I try to leave feedback on buyers the day they pay and when I receive a item ill try to leave it that same day also

just venting I guess

    I agree...
if the seller gets immediate payment (paypal) then he/she should say "immediate payment" or whatever. If it's check or cashiers check or money order, and received quickly...THEN leave feedback "fast payment" or whatever. Then, when the buyer receives it, he/she should do their input.
But, you're right...the seller tends to wait till the buyer does it first...I dont get it.

I would like to see where the buyer could not leave feedback for 14 days or till the seller had left feedback allready.

Then after 14 days the buyer could leave feedback with no seller recourse other then a rebutle to a negitive and the seller could not change there previous response

    sounds good

    Yup...sounds good.

should be a simple no-brainer process.

Seller leaves appropriate feedback as soon as they get payment no matter how.
Buyer leaves feedback as soon as the "stuff" arrives and it's inspected.

Should be that easy...but...it never is.

The sellers are protecting themselves......it sucks I agree but this way they can make up stuff to make them look good if they need too.

The only fix is a complete overhaul of the way feedback is left. Feedback on ebay is, for the most part, partially usable at best.

As a buyer, I quit caring about whether I get feedback or not after I reached 10...and only cared before because some sellers get paranoid about bidders with less than 10 FB.

As a seller, I can see how it is somewhat important to get feedback but have never understood why buyers care one way or the other.

to take my usual contrarian stance:

the transaction is not really over until the seller knows you have received the coin (or other item), that you are satisfied (or not), and any adjustments, refunds, etc. have been made. i admit that as a buyer i appreciate when a seller leaves quick feedback for me, but i also understand that sellers are often burned by things that occur after the payment has been made.

well if they did it like this I think it would work and give both sides of it

the first 21 days seller needs to leave feedback on payment received

After the seller has left feedback or 21 days are up which ever comes first the buyer then has 21 days to reply with feedback of the seller.

If bad or neutral feedback is left the seller can explane the problem but cann't change or leave feedbackat tjis time. Due to it is past the time that they can leave feedback.

How is that idea and does anyone have others?

I leave feedback about once a month. Whether you paid yesterday or 2 weeks ago makes no difference. It's just when I sit down to do it.

When someone buys something from me, I leave feedback as soon as the item is paid for. If I'm the buyer, I leave feedback for the sellers about once a month.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I have always felt that the sellers should leave feedback right away; if I paid quickly, and gave them all of my info quickly, I should get positive feedback.

If the seller then does something wrong (wrong coin, not as described, etc), and after giving them several chances to correct the situation (I understand that mistakes do happen, so I am willing to work things out as an adult), I should be able to leave my feedback without taking a retaliatory negative for my trouble.

However, as I have learned in reading this forum, things are never that cut and dry. I personally am not a seller, but I have seen some of the posts here as to bad buyers, and I can fully understand how some sellers would not want to leave feedback until after they are sure that the buyer is satisfied. Many buyers do not read the (not so) fine print, and then neg anyway - that would make my blood boil too.

I think the whole system needs to be re-vamped, but I don't think that ebay will ever do anything.

I used to feel this way. Now I think that it is not unreasonable for the seller to wait to leave feedback.

If the seller has a return period specified, then his end of the transaction is not really done until the buyer has accepted the merchandise, or in the case there is a problem with the coin, until the return is worked out between them.

I do what I think is right and I don't worry about what other buyer's or seller's do.

When I receive payment I leave feedback and when I receive a coin I leave feedback regardless if the seller has left feedback or not.

I agree, mostly. It should be the seller's responsibility to leave feedback when payment is received.

Zenny does have a point, though. Some sellers prefer to wait and see how the customer feels, before they consider the transaction complete. This also give a seller a chance to retaliate against crazies who leave unwarranted negatives. I'm not saying it's right, but for some, it makes sense.

I have been buying and selling on ebay for over 3 years, (90% buying), andhave close to a thousand positive feedbacks with only one negative, and no neutrals.....

The one negative I received was when I was a newbie, and won an item that was blatently mis-described by the seller..... After several e-mails trying to resolve the problem, and no resolution to the problem, I left a negative feedback, and the seller retalliated.....

After that incident, I learned that the best policy for a seller, (and it is also stated in Ebays rules of proper procedure after a sale), to wait for the winning bidder to receive the item won, and is satisfied with the item, and has left feedback for the seller, and at that time the seller is supposed to return feedback..... If this procedure isn't folowed by the seller, they are left wide open to threats of negative feedback, and other problems, even in the event that the item sold was properly described, etcetera..... The reasons are to numerous as to why buyers and sellers receive negative feedback..... But if you follow Ebays policies, (and use some common since), most problems can be resolved amicably between both parties in every auction.image

Two very important points I want to stress here is that if you intend to bid on a sellers item be very sure that you read the sellers description, and terms of sale, and most importantly "READ THE FEEDBACK" of the seller! I see forto many bidders bidding on items that "they can't live without", paying no, or little attention as to why a seller has far to many negative feedbacks..... One should be able to discern wether negative feedbacks are legitamate, or retaliatory in nature, by reading the reasons, (if stated), as to why the seller has received the negative feedback. If the seller has several negatives for the same reasons, then this is a seller you should avoid at all cost, wether it is an item you can't live without or not! You will probably save yourself alot of grief! But on the other hand if the negatives are varied, and seem to be coming from bidders that just don't have patience waiting a reasonable time for an item. These bidders are usually "newbies", and have not communicated with the seller, are the seller didn't communicate with the winning bidder...... If the feedback post are recent enough it is wise to look at what the item was that was won, or sold. This is very helpful to see if the seller is consistant with their descriptions, and terms....

All of the above is just my humble opinion, from 3+ years of successful transactions on Ebay.image

Puff, You are 100% correct, but even knowing that, I still leave instant feedback. Buyers are pleased to receive quick feedback (it also notifies them payment has been received) so with the risk of everything you described, I do.

I have yet to be burned by doing so but do imagine one day it'll happen and I'll probably then have to resort to your method. Until then, as "wrong" as I am- I continue to leave instant feedback for all buyers.

braddick I agree with you on that I have always left feedback as soon as I noticed the person pd for the item. I notice it is the dealers who dont leave feedback right away are the ones I have most problems with. Seems like over 70% of the people who dont leave feedback right away with in 7 days after you pay them are the ones who you get bad service out of.

My attitude with feed back is that if I can't say something nice, I'll nothing at all.

I've never been involved with a totally rotten person on ebay, but I have had a few cheap skates who refused to complete their end of the bargain. These poeple included those who refused to pay the Postal insurance on an item. My concern is that if it did no get there you know who would have to eat the entire cost and probably get a neg to boot!

People who pull garbage like that get no feed back from me. If it says in the terms of sale that you are responsible for paying all of the postage including the insurance, you should pay it. PERIOD.

You don't deserve a pat on the behind for NOT doing what you agreed to do. At the same time I don't want to get into any "urinating contests" who some Bozo who trades negatives. All that does is give you a black mark, which you don’t deserve. Most people only look at how many negatives you have, not the circumstances.
