Wash 25C Pros - Your Thoughts here please
Does that look like a D Mint mark on the obverse to anyone else besides me? To the right of date at about 2 o'clock?

I can pick it out under magnification also. Just noticed it tonight after shooting pics for my 1962 Mint Year set. Can any Wash Pros shed some light/thoughts on this? Thanks, Dave

Seems pretty improbable though.
Looking for PCGS AU58 Washington's, 32-63.
I'm not a real Wash collector, just for my Birth Year sets so this is new to me. Could the Mint have been testing to move the MM from reverse to obverse in 1962? It did move after 1964 (1968 because of SMS?). Any other theories quarter folks? Dave
Possibly the die punch dude mistakenly lightly punched a mintmark into the obverse, in the wrong place, but this seems unlikely, since there would be lots and lots of these identified already.
Someone mentioned a filled die or a D laminating off the reverse of another coin, and stamped into this one, or some other object struck through that happens to look just like a well-levelled D.
An interesting coin, definitely a keeper, just hang on to it, look for more, maybe it will become a well-publicized and valuable rarity!

It looks like it's in a PCGS holder. I would (like to) think that someone along the way would have noticed something strange like this, either PCGS or the dealers who have handled it.
This is a Wondercoin Special and sits in a special registry set! Thanks Mitch!!!!
It is in a PCGS holder and as I stated earlier, it is nearly impossible to see with the bare eye. Especially in that area where you wouldn't really expect anything. It just popped out at me when I took the photo and I can see it a little specifically looking for it. Easy to miss though.
May send it in for a professional look-see. Will let you know if it turns out to be one of those super rarities! Or run of the mill errors. Thanks, Dave
