POLL - State Quarters Program - Expectations for the Second Half

Looking at the clad Proofs for the first five years I am disappointed. There are a few good and many mediocre designs. Do you think the second half of the program will see an improvement in designs or will it be more of the same?
I had to vote "Probably not". The desire to "offend no one and include everyone" is just too strong so we'll get more lame crap.

The mint has been on a downward trend for years in terms of its designs, across the board. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I love the state quarter program, it got me back into collecting. Although I have not been as critical on the designs as some, I expect about the same.

Although, I really love the silver proofs. And, I think there will be some good surprises in the future. There are a couple states I am very much looking forward to.

Does anyone think the program should be extended a year to include US Territories and the District of Columbia? How about a poll?image

I was inspired until I saw the ugly state quarter for Wisconsin. Now, I think the program is on a slippery slope and will continue to go backards instead of "Forward."

Why are we always putting blame on the "Mint"? Don't the "States" have a large say-so as to the design of their quarter reverse??

I expect the second half to be about the same as the first half. Some of the designs are not the best, but I'll still take them over nothing at all. Yes, the program should be extended to include the territories. image

I'd expect at least a slight improvement in artistic quality since they'll have
had a chance to see some of the pitfalls. A big improvement seems unlikely.

Most of the designs are passable while the premium the mint gets for the .25 is sickening.Have you seen the cost
for a $2.00 roll of .05.That will make you vomit.

The public is not complaining, the mint is making a mint on bags, rolls and maps, and nothing will change as far as the designs are concerned. Just remember, all of these designs are approved by a commitee, and a camel is a horse designed by a commitee.

Not really. they can have all the design contests they want, but when they are ready to send the designs in to the Mint all the mint wants is a WRITTEN description of the general concept. They have said that they will not even look at artwork. Then the mint engravers will create a design based on the written concept description. They have been moving that way for some time but after the CA design that is the way all of the future designs are supposed to be created.
