Why do you want to bid on something like this?

HEY, don't laugh, I just bid on a lot for the hell of it. Part of my experimentation. I'll fill you in with the results when this extremely profitable transaction arrives at my front door. It's ashame the beer isn't accompanying the auction, it'd really be worth it!...image

What 291fifth said. Why would you want to buy a pig in a poke? There are a zillion sight-unseen "grab bag" auctions like this out there (with similar stories, I might add). Sure, maybe a few get lucky on something like this, but the vast majority get common junk. Best to know what you're buying.

Edited to add: sometimes a wild gamble on a "grab bag" auction can be fun, if you are so inclined. Nothin' wrong with tryin' one occasionally. Just don't get your hopes too high.

I make it a point of not bidding on auctions that require 30 minutes or more to completely read

The more this seller goes on and on about how these are really unsearched, he's the real deal, etc., the more he sounds like he's full of BS.

While this guy's feedback looks good, it sure is a lot verbage to convince us that this is really unsearched stuff. What no affidavit from an attorney? They even salt it to ensure you get stuff. If it was that good why bother? I like that fact that is such an "ABSORBENT" lot of coins. Did they come from a shipwreck?

Probably not a rip off, but something tells me there are better ways to spend your money.

I too agree! However, it was just too damn COLORFUL, almost to the onset of blindness, to pass up...image

This guy's feedback is entertaining and "silly" image

Wonder what he would say if I bid on it and left him this feedback:

I found a severed monkey paw in my hoard! deeply satisfied!!! 5 star seller!

You know you received some nice coins, stop being so silly?

i would definitely leave positive feedback if i were to find a monkey paw that came out of a beer keg o' coins, severed or un-severed(still attached to the entire monkey)!

Nope, if it takes more than 10 seconds to read the auction I move along.

    Rule of Thumb:

Quality of the purchase is inversely reated to the number of times the seller uses phrases like-Never searched, best deal, unsearched, quaranteed, etc

Those appear to be aluminum kegs. I am fairly sure that these were not manufacured until the 1970's. Kinda blows the theory the guy collected these from 1940 to 1960 and stored them in beer kegs. image

I wonder how long it took them to fill that keg. These type of dealers always amaze me with the many ways they've discovered new "hoards of unsearched" coins.
