ANA Museum

I will be in Colorado Springs next week and was wondering if the ANA Museum is worth a stop?

Nice coin shops in the area?

Thanks,
-Brian

It is well worth it. The Bass gallery of gold can take 1/2 an hour to admire the rare gold coins. There are 2 other exhibits that change every 6 months and is always interesting. 2 blocks away is Hallenbeck's coin shop which is a great shop and has alot of coins. Tom Hallenbeck owns it and is a really nice guy.

yea, you have to stop here.

the ANA is very cool. and they will direct you to the hollenbeck galleries just about 2 miles from the ANA.

plus if you haven't been here before the town is a very nice place to visit.

and Cameron Kiefer , do you live here also?
may the force be with you.

I'd love to see it (and that part of the country, for that matter), one day.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

No, but I interned at the ANA in 2001 and have been going there every summer for a week or two for the last 5 years.

I was there over the summer. Definitely worth a stop. Also, try to fit in a tour of the US Olympic Training Center, a stop at Garden of the Gods and a trip up Pike's Peak.

You must stop at the museum if you are that close. And Hallenbeck's shop is only two blocks from the ANA (not 2 miles).

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Seems unanimous, I will go for sure. Coincidentally I received the new Numismatist this evening
and noticed an exhibit about Mexican revoutionary coins is currently at the museum. I had forgotten
the Bass gold collection was housed there.

Thanks to all for the information.

    Regards,

Well, since so far there's been no opposition, I feel I should step in...

I was there this summer, and I can say you'd better go there! Great stuff, and Hallenbeck's is getting some more praise by me image
