buy from the US mint? yes/no/always/never

I was wondering what people thought of buying coins from the US Mint. I have been reading these posts for a while now and I've seen some good, some bad.
I personally have bought a few mint and proof sets and never had a problem. I hope I didn't just jinx myself!

I just don't collect much of the new stuff and when I do I have other sources.
easier for me to cherry pick from lots of sets that other people bought and took the loss on
The last time I ordered anything big, was in 1999 when the Washington $5 gold coins were issued. I really wanted an "in the flesh" coin example of Mrs. Frazer's original design that should have been on the Washington quarrter.
Shoot yeah!
Now that they make people pay to return items, you don't get so much of other people's rejects.
The mint has gotten much more efficient with their shipping than they used to be when I was a kid, in my opinion.
The average quality of proofs is vastly superior than in the past.
I always get crap in the mint sets. I find better stuff in change or at the bank.
Some work out nicely, others make me wonder what the heck I was thinking.
I always like receiving coins in the mail, so I will probably continue.

Same here.

Why not buy from the mint? Are you going to get those coins cheaper at a later date? Perhaps, but none of the mint products are priced that high and I don't mind adding them to my mixed early/modern collection.
I never have had a problem with the mint at all.
Definitely cheaper from the Mint but you have to order quickly,
they seem to sell out fast.

Edited to Add: I recommend making several simultaneous purchases to reduce shipping costs. The shipping used to be free when you placed orders through the internet, but they quit doing this! We all should purchase new stuff and not just the old stuff -- otherwise, there will be no new "blood".
