I found one in 1964, but it was only VF+. Looks like this one escaped from a collector. Nice find. There are much more valuable coins circulating nowdays but this is about as unlikely a find as you can make.
That is way cool! I've found a couple of 1950 nickels and one 1950D, but yours is definitely better than mine. 1955 nickels are difficult, also. I've seen a lot of 1955D's and one day I found a nickel with the 1955 date and turned it over and finally--no mint mark. That's why you look.

It was so exciting to see the 1950 and to flip it over... D! Yes! Not a big-money find but exciting none the less. Thanks for sharing my excitement with me...
I found one about 8 years ago. Another that could not have been in circulation for 40 years, but neat anyways. The only one I have never found is the 1939-D. Always fun to find a key.

Congrats! A sweet find. I recall searching hundreds of Jeff rolls in the early to mid 1980s and pulling the pre-1960 coins. I ended up with a complete set from circulation minus only two coins I never did find -- the 1939-D and 1950-D. This is the the one circulating coin that if you search enough rolls, you can eventually end up with a near-complete set, although it is my impression it is not near as easy as it was 20 years ago.

It depends on your definitions here. The clad dimes and quarters can certainly be completed, though the conditions will be poor for many of them.
Thats a nice find. My wife doesn't collect but keeps old coins for me. About 20 years ago she handed me one, a 1939-S Jeff and I remeber seeing full steps, had to escape a collection. I've been checking change and rolls for over 35 years and have never found a 1950-D. Congrats
Very nice! Never found one in circulation, but I did find a 1945-D in uncirculated condition a few months ago. Congratulations!

When I a kid 40 years ago, I was looking for a 50-D nickel and a 55-S cent. I never did find either in circulation to this day. I finally broke down and bought the nickel for about $5 and the cent for $1. They were the last two I needed to complete those albums.
Hey ive got a nice toned 1950D I picked it up in an old dansco album. Nice red and orange tone to it. This is a nice coin I have managed to pick up another 10 in the past year by cherring the 10c boxes at some flea markets and garage sales.
