I have 4 of those and that one looks real as far as I can tell by the picture. They say it has the certificate of authenticity too.

That is very deceptive, if you read the add carefully he says it is clad, ect. but never calls it a repro, which it surely is. also who put it in that holder

The seller was selling 4 of them. They all hit $100 bucks apiece. At least they didn't get to the real GSA's price.

those auctions ended over a month ago and none of the lucky buyers have yet to leave a feedback.

The 1889-CC ad at least intimates it's a copy. The 1879-CC is just blatantly deceptive. Current bid $202.50.

Can't believe that something as worthless as this "Clad" silver plated coin is getting 20 bids and selling for over $200.

How do you think the person will feel when they fo to the local coin shop and want to sell one day and get offered $4-5.

They'll then think the dealer is off his rocker!

These slimeballs give all honest coin folks a bad rap.

Tom .... I AM going to keep them. Matter of fact I just joined NGC so I can submit them in the GSA holders.

I have seen these before. Definitely crap. Anyway, the US Mint busted these guys for deceptive advertising before (NCM) and I'm surprised it's taking them this long to do it again.

I think these kind of coins are really sad. They're worthless, they look cheesy in hand, and their only function is to rip off novice collectors/non-collectors. Another one I see advertised everywhere is the 1933 Double Eagle "replica." I was actually in a coin store when an old guy came in trying to sell one of these and was quite disappointed to discover that all he had was a zillionth of an inch gold plated piece of junk!

I love that these coins come with a COA! Authentic what? Authentic piece of....

I saw the 1889-CCs selling on T.V. by the same company, I think, that was selling the 1933 $20 St. Gaudens as replications. Not soon after the 5 or 6 month long run of the 89-CC commercial, I saw vendors selling them at eBay for exorbitant money. If I'm not mistaken, I saw 1- 89-CC close for almost $500.00 or more. From what I gathered from the T.V. commercial, the 89-CC were solid silver replications. These 79-CCs I'm not too sure about....I'd be game to think that even the worst of 'crack-heads' would be able to see through this seller's(the 79-CC) scam...

Why does Ebay put up this garbage?

All it does is tarnish the image of the honest sellers who try to sell REAL coins at fair prices.

The person who bid $224 for this should have an email sent to him or her the opens up with the phrase, "YOU ARE A BOOB!" It might make them mad as hell, but at least it would wake them up before they pay 20X + what this piece of refuse is worth.

I saw that 79-CC and I had to laugh. I really dislike the national collectors mint copying. Every now and then I get junk mail from them and I can't believe what they get away with.

I have a novelity item that was given to me. It's a giant buffalo proof made from silver (so authenticated). The coin is paper thin. I like showing it to people and then taking out so they can see the reality.

These fakes are spreading like crazy. Two non-collectors have asked me about it. When they said "proof" and "Carson City" in the same sentence I knew something was up.
