The Rusty Washer Thread

Someone made a very good point in an earlier thread to the effect that lurkers and newbies are perhaps reluctant to post their coins for fear of being shown up by high-end pieces. So this thread is dedicated to your rusty and perhaps not so rusty washers. Please, no $1000 dollar coins here. Just the middle of the road stuff us average Joes can afford, yet love to collect.

To keep this thread serious, I have a beautiful 1946-D Lincoln cent that is MS65BN, but I don't have a scan. Sorry!

It certainly is not a rusty washer since it has the most sensational velvety green/blue luster that I've ever seen.

It's a coin that an average Joe could certainly afford. Probably worth about $5. NOT for sale!

That's Charles III of Spain. He had a big, honkin' schnozzola, didn't he?

I had a gold escudo made in the 1760's, with his younger bust on it. It was a type commonly referred to as the "Ratnose" bust!

That 4-reales piece is a cool one, though, and one of my faves on the vest, particularly since it has an interesting story behind it. A detecting buddy of mine found it near Saint Augustine, Florida!

As if Shriver and Charles III aren't bad enough, there's always Leopold the Hogmouth, who reigned in the 1600's and had a prognathic jaw, whatever that means. It's not hard to see how he got his nickname!

I do have some crusty zinc hole-in-the-center coins from WW2 German Occupied France.
