Well, I bought the half for the wife. She collects them, and her collecting helps justify my collecting. They could ask a K for one of those half oz's, and I'd be pretty much forced to buy it.
With the huge price increase this year I have decided to pass on them.
I would have too, if it werent for the above mentioned reason. We have one of each of the halves and tenths since '97. All are in the orgional government issue holders. With all the ones going into PCGS/NGC holders, I like the idea of keeping them "origional."
I think Fats is right, Dave. In the latest Coin World the front page article is about the 45% increase in platinum coins from the Mint. I personally only keep up with silver and gold but it seems platinum is going up faster than all. The article is titled Sticker Shock. Who knows what the price will be next year; you may still have done OK.
