Would you buy from an eBay seller with feedback like this?

RussRuss Posts: 48,514 ✭✭✭
They just signed up in June of this year and have already racked up this profile:

Feedback Summary

242 positives. 118 are from unique users.

6 neutrals.

6 negatives. 6 are from unique users.

Only 118 unique positives, so this means that between negs and neuts, more than 10% of the people that have purchased have not been pleased.

Would you buy from them?

Probably not, but it depends what the feedback says, and if Paypal is an option. Don't forget, for every neg/neutral posted, there are probably 5 not posted for fear of a retaliatory neg.

Depends on the circumstances surrounding the negs.......

Does my feedback show it ???? No

Am I gonna change my ID because of it ???? HECK NO

do some digging and find out why

They let the jury hear the facts before rendering a verdict......... So should you !!!!1

    longtimecollector,

Yours were a year ago. Assuming good stuff since, that wouldn't even cause me to pause. This seller's only been registered three months, so all the negs and neuts are recent.

    longtimecollector,

Is there some reason you're taking this discussion so personally?

I use to buy from a guy out in Vegas who racked up some 230+ negatives on Ebay - 13 in one month!
I personally never had a problem. Got the coins I paid for & just as advertised. I was just lucky I

    longtimecollector,

I didn't say anything about people with negs being scum. Many eBay sellers have negs from honest mistakes as well as running in to an ocassional idiot bidder or getting hit with retaliatories. I simply asked the forum membership if they would buy from a seller with that feedback profile.

I fail to see why you apparently think this simple rhetorical question was targeted at you personally. It has nothing to do with you, and is simply something I tossed out for discussion.

I'm sure every member here understands your feelings towards neg feedback.

There are understandable reasons for negs.

You are correct that folks need to dig for the reasons.

Russ's post was simply something tossed out for discussion.

Many really look at negs strongly and it's good to get others thoughts.

I pay close attention to the sellers response to a neg.

Ebay is a crazy world but we all must love it to keep using and watching it.

The ironic aspect to longtimecollector's reaction is that it is precisely the point of the thread.

In answer to the question I originally posed, I have purchased from this seller - numerous times in the past, and will do so in the future without hesitation. I'd guess that many, many members of this forum, including some who responded here, have also purchased from them.

    The seller is Heritage.

I always review the negative feedback and especially how a negative is responded to by the seller. Many eBay sellers seems to have strange consecutive positive feedbacks...with the same wording. For example "Great coin, A+++++" 10 times in row. These I avoid, I think the feedback system is being manipulated somehow.

I'm really surprised that Heritage has that sort of feedback. I guess that it
just goes to show that feedback is a tool, but not an absolute.

I have bought and sold on Ebay for over 3 years, and have close to 700 positive feedbacks, 1 retaliatory neg, and no neuts...... My user i.d. is "efwpb1"

I have found that if someone has over 5% negs, and they are for more or less the same reasons, it is not a very good idea to bid on there items. You have to take into consideration the "newbies", and retaliatory negs.

You also need to look at the "total" bids in the upper left hand corner of the feedback profile. If you follow Ebay's policies you will note that the "seller" should wait until the "buyer" leaves feedback. There are to many "buyers" that will leave negative feedback without even trying to remedy any problems they have with the seller. If you're a good seller you will communicate with every step in the selling process so the buyer doesn't have to e-mail asking questions about whether, or not their item has been shipped, etcetera......

Communication is the "key" to having good sales feedback on Ebay.image

But this is all just my opinion...... for what it's worth!image
