I just got this back from PCGS and they labelled it 1911-S. For the life of me; I can't find the "S."

<< <i>Reverse left hand side. It's incuse and sometimes hard to see. >>
Correction: The mintmark is NOT incuse. It is actually in relief....which probably led to the weakness seen in many of the dates.
Here is a pic of a $2.5 but the mm is in the same position:

I actually bought this coin as a "P." It was labelled simply 1911. I sent it to PCGS (for authenticity) and just got it back today. I'm just not seeing where they're coming up with the "S." There's nothing there that I can see with a 10x loupe but a bagmark...
You might be able to sell it for something more than the typical 11-P. That's what I'd do...but maybe you are just interested in the "type" so it may not matter to you.

Check the cert number in the database and see if it also shows your coin as a s mint.
COIN INFORMATION
Date, mintmark: 1911-S
Denomination: $5
Variety: N/A
Grade: VF30
I don't know; maybe I need a more powerful loupe? Or, it's mislabelled. Would it really be worth sending it back?
Maybe someone revomed it on purpose. People used to do strange things to gold coins and save up the small gold amounts removed.
The s is worth a little more than the p anyway.
