Bessemer Alabama Coin Show

I attended my first coin show this weekend. I have to say, I really enjoyed it.
Friday was busier than I expected it to be. There seemed to be quite a bit of dealer to dealer activity. Saturday was easily the busiest day with more collectors and families attending. Sunday was slow as many of the dealers packed up and headed out early. There was also a lot of talk about the upcoming show in Baltimore.
Of course there were oodles and oodles of blast white Morgans but there were also many other coins that you don't see every day. I could have spent all day drooling over the coins in Dahlonega's and GSAGuy's cases.
I loved looking at all the coins, but for me the best part of the show was meeting some really great people from the boards.
A couple of members I already know-Frank (FC57Coins) and Andy (Newkid)-were there. I also had the pleasure of meeting GaCoinGuy, ArtR, GSAGuy (and his cute little toned Morgans
), Fatman, Fivecents, and Dahlonega. Carl Lester was also there. I could go on and on about how knowledgeable and friendly these guys are, but it would take up a lot of space and besides, I wouldn't want to embarrass them.
I purchased a few supplies and books-The 2004 Red Book and
The Neighborhood Mint-Dahlonega in the Age of Jackson.
I also purchased a couple of coins for my type set- a 1943-D Steel Cent (MS67 PCGS), a 1937 Buffalo nickel (MS66 PCGS), and a 1972 S Silver Ike graded MS68 by PCGS. I purchased the Ike from Fivecents on Saturday. I didn't know who he was until I came back to the show today and Frank pointed him out to me. I went back to his table and found some more moderns I really liked.
Below are pictures of two of the coins I bought at the show. I may have to work on the pics.
The Ike is a very clean coin. I really didn't expect to find one this nice at the show, but I'm glad I did.

The Buffalo has just a hint of rainbow around part of the rim on the reverse.

The show was in Bessemer, Alabama (about 10-15 miles from Birmingham). Sorry I forgot to mention the location in the first post.

It's amazing how fast the days go by when sitting around talking about coins. This has got to be one of the greatest hobbies there is.
GSAGUY
P.S. My Morgans are okay......YOU'RE the one that's cute!!!
It was great meeting you too. Very pretty Ike you have there. The Dahlonega Book is a good read. Since you met Carl Lester I hope you got him to sign the "Forward" for you? I too enjoyed meeting GSAGuy, ArtR, GaCoinGuy and FiveCents for the first time. It is wonderful to meet with other board members. Everyone I have met so far have been wonderful folks and very sharing with their amazing coins, numismatic knowledge and experience.

Yikes! I love it when you talk dirty.

P.S. Lucy, did your icon wink at me or has my dementia progressed that far?
As Ikes go, that's one of the best ones I've seen. Good find!
John- Yes, Carl Lester did autograph the book for me. I'm looking forward to reading it.
Lucy-Well, sorry you didn't have any luck with the coins, but I'm glad you were able to find something you needed.
