Thanks Russ! And, yes, I remember that Sac well, as I was sure it would be a PR70DC!

Sooooooo, let me get this straight. You buy some 2003 Proof Sets from the mint. These coins were minted last week. Next you submit them (still in the holder) to PCGS. All of the coins are graded PF-69 by PCGS.

Are you surprised? This is the dumbest dang thing that I have ever seen or heard of. Do you not understand that these coins were minted under highly controlled conditions just a matter of months ago????? What were you expecting? PF-61?? Of course they are all PF-69. What in the he!! are you guys doing spending hundreds of dollars just to have someone on a grading assembly line to tell you that your 2003 proof sets are gem proofs???

Please send me a PM....I have a bridge that I would like to sell you.

    Eddie,

I see you're a little slow on the uptake today. Think about it for a while.

I don't get it and I never will. What am I missing?? Pop 1/0 for a 2003 proof? In my opinion, the entire proof mintage for 2003 are all tied for finest known. It would be something like this 2003 Dime, PF-69, Pop 7,500,000/0. Bleeech.

Oh. Well, I never claimed to be the sharpest tack in the wall.

On a related point, will PCGS actually break open proof sets for you? What do they charge? I have tried and it is very difficult to do.

I just hope they slab it as was reported!!image

    Eddie,

Yes, they open them, and no they don't charge anything.

Your wife opens the ketchup bottles in your house I guess? If you breathe hard on them they fall open.

Don't be ridiculous! Of course she doesn't open the ketchup bottle for me. She got tired of doing that so now she brings me those little ketchup packets from McDonalds. Those are a little bit easier to open.

Hmmmm? Now what, coach? I may have my shipment by Tuesday, latest. We'll know more, then. Gee, this is turning into quite the mystery.... Maybe I spoke too soon regarding two Pop 1's....
I'll not confuse the issue more, by calling them myself. Let's see what they tell you, after hearing of my results.....

They told me to send it back, they will tell you the same thing! WE ARE GOING TO BE COMPENSATED FOR OUR TIME!

I doubt I will I have my shipment by tomorrow! Besides, after looking at your results, it can't possibly be mine. The SAC I sent them was a lock at PR70DC...

Yes. Of course it was. I have it on good authority. Just ask Russ!
If this continues much longer, I may graduate to "Collector" status soon. Realistically tho, the Kennedy, at the very least, shudda been Cameo.

It wouldn't be the first time that PCGS has left off the DCAM by mistake.

The dollar story is too much!!!

    Congratulations by the way.

I wish PCGS would grade modern proofs as tough as they do 1950s. I see moderns in DCAM holders that would be pressed to get a CAM if the date ready 1953 instead of 2003.

numised..your basic thought is correct..only a pinhead would spend money to send brand new 2003 proof coins in to be graded and maybe fingerprinted too..this grading phenomena has normal people doing really stupid things in my opinion and wasting money on worthless plastic that comes with an opinion inside on a little paper tag..when will dealers stop supporting the house of cards?

I couldn't care less if you're right or wrong. When you refer to people I like as "pinheads" I don't care what your point may be.

I would refer to them as somebody who is spending their own money as they see fit. I would also refer to them as a fellow collector who has done nothing to you, and doesn't deserve to be denigrated because they happen to collect differently than you.

I'd be looking in the mirror and seeing myself. . .image

(Well, other than it's $20. worth of coins (thank you very much) and NOT $15.)
