If you could invite ONE board member to your house for dinner, who would it be?

SethChandlerSethChandler Posts: 1,719 ✭✭✭✭
Edited to add:

A top candidate for me would be Julian. He's been coin dealer forever.......I'm sure that he shared a bourse table with B. Max Mehl and ole' Hank Chapman. He's handled every coin in the Red Book, and has helped form some great collections. Imagine those stories.....

Excluding those with whom I have already dined (Dahlonega, branchmintgold), I would choose Russ. His sense of humor kills me. I hope Russ is a vegeterian.

    Excellent question, Seth!

Shylock! He has so much information on indian cents. It would be a blast.

I would like to have dinner with Mr. Hall and Gmarguli!

Why CarolJ of course! She'd dine on my seafood delight with an appetizer of boiled rooster crab claws & mudbugs w/corn on cob followed by fried grits and broiled mullet covered with my famous cream of asparagus w/baby shrimp sauce and poot beans on the side and homemade cathead biscuits with a dessert of corn bread & sweetmilk washed down with all the ice tea she can drink.

  • Good one dog. I forgot about PCGS staff. I am sorry braddick, but I have to change my answer.

If my wife happened to be away, I' would love to dicuss the merits of collecting Frankies vs. Kennedies with Lucy, also.image

If Lucy couldn't make it and Anaconda was so busy that he had to send his secretary Stephanie, we could discuss vibrantly toned pieces of history.image

If THEY were all busy and my wife was home, I'd have Russ over. He could show me how he spots an accented hair from 100 yards away over a few Iron City Lights.image

I thought about Laura Legend but I figured she'd just insult me and call me a wannabe cook because I didn't walk on the floor of 40 major restaurants a year. I'd do her a simple no-nonsense crock pot of fall of the bone melt in your mouth squirrel stew with brown gravy over biscuits made with genuine lard for that extra flake.

I'd have coffee and jelly donuts with Mr. Bear - I bet he would be a wealth of knowledge!

I've already had dinner with Dahlonega also so that doesn't count.

As for Marty - his idea of gormet food is tacos to go - I have enough heartburn in my life image
  • Forget it Dog97, I'd take Stephanie to EMERIL'S!!image

  • Second, I'd take FC57 to Steak & Shake if he promised not to wear his Party Animal Outfit!! Thanks MadMarty!! image
  • I would like to ask Coinguy1 tons of questions so might invite him.

I would like to show HRH lots of coins and ask different questions image

I would like Lucy to show up with tons of 45s, that would be fun.

I would buy Russ all the flea market food he can eat, if we go to his flea market image

But I don't want to be limited to one, I would much rather invite everybody for a BBQ and show and tell.
  • When I go to eat,I go to eat. Third place would be between Ksteelheader and TheFatMan. Let's Eat Fellas!!! image

It`s a real toughy because I like and respect a good number of fourm members opinions ( seriouslyimage )

If I had to pick one and only one it would be Dog97. There`s several series that I like but my main loves are Morgans and Peace. I think I could learn alot from him about those two series if I met him face to face. But we have this forum anyway.

    I brake for ear bars.
  • No offense to the many, many other intertesting people on the boards but I'd probably choose TomB, Braddick, or Dog97. Sadly, we got no squirrels for Dog.image

I would invite all of the female board members. That way they could feed me grapes while fanning me with the latest issues of Coin World and Numismatic News. Cool.

    Hey Michael,
I don't fit any of your gender and physical requirements, but you are welcome for dinner any time.

    Hmmm. Tough choice.

I'd have to go with Michael, so he could teach me everything in the world about coins, and Dog97 to whisper in my ear that I'm mortal. image
