I am new to coin collecting but have been collecting silver bullion for along time. Recently I got interested in gold coins and have just started reading and researching them. I made my first puchase yesterday, not anything special just a small denomination gold eagle,i know this isnt a collectable just needed somehting to get me started.

I hope you all won't mind a few dumb questions in the future from a newby. I have been reading this for awhile and find it very interesting.

    Welcome, Al!
Do lots of homework, do ask lots of questions, don't buy into hypes, don't buy from Shop-At-Home or HSN, don't buy raw coins on ebay, don't buy coins without pictures on the net. Then you'll be fine.
Lots of experts on this board, and I am NOT one of them.

    Here's a big fat welcome to ya!image

GAE's are beautiful coins and a nice type addition to a new collection. As a bullion coin its value will fluctuate directly with the price of gold. You paid a fair price based upon current price. Do your homework and when buying coins on ebay I would recommend staying with PCGS, NGC or ANACS certified coins for your protection. Too many scammers selling overgraded or counterfeit raw coins.
