If you include modern commems, you have a lot to choose from.

Among the poll options, Sacagawea is by far the best looking (I would certainly not rate it anywhere near ugliest), though the design could be viewed as a bit banal.

I would have to say that the zinc cent is the ugliest coin by far. It is chinzy, cheesy and seems like kids money out of a crackerjack box. At least the SBA and Ike have some size and heft to them, have a silver exterior and have reeded edges. That gives them much more life than the lowly zinc cent that nearly floats away in a strong wind.

My "other" vote was for the Franklin Half. Sorry to the Franklin lovers out there, my opinion only.

If it makes you feel better I *love* Barber coinage, which to some has questionable aesthetics, each to his/her own.

SBA's were just plain ugly (except for the reverse).

I found the Golden Dollar to be very interesting (obverse included). They even look better if they've been in circulation (some finger grease to cut down the shine of a BU coin).

I chose the SBA, but there are lots of runners-up in the modern commems series, such as the Shriver monstrosity. I'm sure when the Kennedys pushed that one through the Congress they didn't expect the Mint to make her look like a man.

Barber coinage especially the chicken vulture looking eagle on the reverse. That is the most pathetic rendition of an eagle I have ever seen on a coin. It looks like Don Knotts modeled for the bird.

The Korean War vets deserved a better coin.

I don't know why I've always instinctively hated that design. Maybe because it looks like a child's drawing to me. Maybe I'm not being fair; after all, there certainly are uglier coins out there. But I've never liked the Korean War buck, or most of the Olympic coins, either, for that matter.

Top Four UGLY are: Franklin half (sorry Lucy), SBA, Eisenhower, and Peace. Of course, all of these designes are beautiful compared to at least 60% of all commemorative coins.

I know I'm in the minnority, but I love the Sacagawea design
