Want to know what happened to the Tales of Coinalot and Mrs Coinboard?

Well it seems some of our mean spirited and brain dead Forum members complained
to Carol about those wonderful stories not belonging on this Forum. Not having the guts to inform
Clankeye straight up in a PM, these slimy creatures went to mommy to complain. Those stories gave a
great deal of joy and happines to many of us on the Forum and now they will be no more. Coins dont
seem to be the only thing exhibited on this Forum. Cruelty, meaness, pettyness and envy of anothers
wonderful talents seem to be the specialty of a few to ruin enjoyment for the many. Whoever you
misbegotten and childish cowards are, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

If this place ever gets to be where every discussion is on some die state, die issue, grade question, slab bashing, or technical thing I'll be the first to go.
Some people need to lighten up and grow up.

<< <i>It's really difficult for me to believe that a number of members would complain to the powers to be about Clank's stories. I know Carol addressed this on another thread and claimed that she enjoyed them too. So did he get an email from someone at PCGS asking him not to post them? Clank, please feel free to post them over at sleepyland, you might wake some of us up.
That is exactly how I read the other thread, IrishMike. Carol had said that someone, 1 out of 9,000+, complained that his stories belonged on the Open forum, rather than here. Forty or fifty of us let Carol know that we felt this was the appropriate location for his stories and that we like them. Carol stated, "I have no intention of moving clankeye's stories. I believe this is the correct forum for these. I also agree that there are many informative posts that are not technically about coins." Here is a link:
Clank
So, even though one Member chose to complain to Carol, 9,000+ are happy with his stories. Forty or fifty of us defended them in the thread. Carol has publically stated she feels this is the correct forum for his stories and seems to agree they are good. So Carol and PCGS don't seem to be the problem. Hopefully, Clank will reconsider and begin writing again.
I really don't want to be at the center of any controversy on the board. Me thinks probably much ado is being made about nothing. Or at least very little.
I will admit to being taken aback when I read that some people (who knows how many) had complained about the placement of the stories. I think I can handle that, shake it off, and move on.
I have been very fortunate with the number of positive responses I have gotten to my contributions. And that's the way I looked at the writing. My way of contributing here. I am not really a skilled numismatist, and have never claimed to be. So I think we all try to bring whatever it is we have to offer to the forum.
I guess I can be as moody as the next guy, but I really don't think Im going to fall back on a "well I'll just take my ball and go home" way of looking at things.
There have been too many good people, and too much support shown to me since I've come here. And to think otherwise would be a little bit short sighted of me.
I have received many PM's thanking me for the stories. And I thank you all. I will state publicly that I have never received one PM blasting me for them.
Please do not let this become a contentious thread. I do--and always will--appreciate this place and the people who inhabit it. I wish you all well. And yes, I'll be around.
Clankeye
DH said that "you are the man", or something similar, and he's right.
Your contributions are so unlike any others, and are appreciated in a way that cannot be explained.
Thank you for sharing your gifts!
It trips me out the number of people who find my mild mannered posts "offensive." Me farting in front of your wife is offensive. Spitting a hocker on your shoe is offensive. Asking our opinion then calling us offensive for it is offensive.

Dog, This sums it up very nicely. I could not agree more.
<< <i>I agree also. I'd be willing to bet that some of the complainers are those that can't be sent PM's.............Ken >>
Was'nt me,I enjoyed the stories very much.
I want to make clear that Clankeye's stories were not stopped due to complaints nor was I planning on removing them from the coin forum.
His stories were ONLY used as an example of the different complaints I get about topics on this board.
I also included the topic of "Look at this eBay auction" among other examples.
I posted the thread to get feedback to see if a majority felt that these things were in fact not considered coin related.
Many people don't complain directly to me but I can pick up some of their subtle and not so subtle feelings in various posts.
There was no hidden agenda in the post other than to see where people stood about the semi-coin related threads, nothing more.

Somebody ought to shoot Bear
My posts viewed
since 8/1/6
then give him a bear hug!
Bear did not come out and say you were halting the stories, a slight implication maybe, but I think bear was referring to clankeye's response to your original post that if people were complaining, he would'nt do anymore stories. At least that's the way I see it.

I think what you're seeing is the majority of those of us who are left here that have been around for a while feel that Clank, along with many other members, really contribute positively to the boards. As with many an artificially created social group (such as work!), sometimes we have to suffer stupid rules because a few jerks decide to break them and they don't have the decorum and maturity to act in a way that's acceptable. So in short, we like the way things are, we like the people that hang out here - and believe it or not, we've got enough backbone to let the real jerks know when they've stepped out of lines. Yes, maybe things were getting out of hand up to a point, but in all honesty, many times I, for one, would see the flame threads and totally ignore them because they weren't worth my time of day. I think you're seeing now a much more mainstream group of people that don't thrive on attacking others on here. We've lost some members who really contributed a great deal to our learning in this hobby, and for that I'm sorry, but guess what - we know where to find them, so don't fret too much about what "we want" on here. Things are fine - let it be!
Frank
PS - Mr. Bear is my hero - so anyone that wants to hunt him - or his jelly donuts will have to deal with a really ticked off ceegarsmoking dog knawing on their leg!
I enjoy Clankeye's stories and from his previous comments on the darkside forum he seems to be just taking a break. (note to self…don't use Clankeye as an example…use one of the dogs)
I'm not singling anyone out (with the exception of IrishMike because he stones puppies
While I do agree you all are usually good about taking care of your own, I really do want to here things like if we need a Look at This Auction forum (or something similar) . not if one or two want it but a majority want it.
I understand people grumble just for fun but sometimes I may come out and ask to be sure. Don't worry that it's anything more than a fact finding mission unless I'm yelling
Carol
<< <i>Hey, I like Bear too and I'm not singling him out. >>
Good! I'd hate to have to chew on your leg!!!
But on second thought....
Thanks Carol - I have a feeling we're going to be ok on here - as long as you don't pick on us pooches too much!

Seems like you want to make implications without any proof, there Ken. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Hypocrisy is alive and well in the Ken household.

Its 9000 to 1.
Majority rules so go ahead and write to your hearts content.
I have to think the one that complained is the same one
that would complain that they werent being hung with a new rope.
No jelly donut for that member huh Bear?
<< <i>HEY!Take this to the open forum.This isn't about coins.WHAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah,BoooooHoooooo.
Total agreement.
When something tragic happens in your life, even then complaining about it will do nothing. Be thankful for what you have, the "Blessings" you have any your health.
There is so much more to be grateful for than to complain for....................
Clank, please, please, we are alll in need of a "story".
<< <i>see, another classic Dcam Troll insult but end it with a smiley face........ >>
Don't get me wrong, by saying "his OR HER" above, I'm not SAYING that Carol was the one or anything like that.
