Personal questions for David Hall

David:

You've obviously accomplished a great deal so far in the coin business, and you're still young. What are some of your professional goals for the future? Any books planned?

(By the way, your Mercenary's Guide to the Rare Coin Market is a gem. Well thought out and well written.)

Lastly, do you have a personal collection of coins and if so, what is in it?

You should ask this in the Q & A Forum for Tuesday night - homerunhall has been doing a slugger of a job answering specific questions relating to 'issues'

The format is ask a question, if they feel like answering they do - but not a thread - 1 question ->
    1 answer

David, this would be a much more pleasant thread to respond to. You can articulate your dreams and tell your fantasies of buying

How about if Laura, Bruce, et al. somehow ended up owning 51% of the outstanding shares of CLCT? Now THAT would be a trip.....image

The coin people from my generation...those born between say 1942 and 1955...are a product of the Post War coin boom. I feel that we had more exposure to coins than those who came after us, i.e those who started collecting after old coins disappeared from circulation when the Government took the silver out of our coins in 1965. And those who came after us, either by birth or by not being involved as early, missed all the stuff that went down in the 1970s...all the coins that were available, all the deals that were done, the two major market explosions (the two biggest of all-time.)

I would like to tap the collective numismatic intelligence of the coin experts of my generation and do a big brain dump...creating the ultimate numismatic information consolidation. This has been my dream for the last 10 years. I'm now in a position to start to do something about it. This is what I want to spend a lot of time on for the next 10 to 20 years.

I still love coins...and I thoroughly enjoy all the auction and coin show action. And I like the message boards too!

Thanks to everyone for all their comments and participation on the PCGS message boards.

People at PCGS can have their own private collections. ICG is the one where they are barred from buying or selling of coins.
