I believe that's a forum member. That is just so mean.image Very cool looking Roosie, BTW. What causes that type of toning?

  • You should have bid higher if you wanted it so bad.

I hate when that happens. I lost 3 auctions today. All for not Sniping with a high enough bid. One was a 3 second snipe and the others were both 2 second snipes.

  • Indianabyron,

Colorfulcoins is on these boards. Also, regarding etiquette, you know what they say ... "it's a dog-eat-dog world and SpongeBob is wearing milkbone underwear" ...

  • I feel the pain ... the perils of snipe or be sniped ... usually it works best to bid as much as you are willing to pay and then walk away ... easier said than done though because sometimes that three ... two ... one ... snipe feels so good.

Ok, to feel better, I would recommend 2 crusty burgers and avoid Squidworth for a day.

  • And Byron,
http://www.esnipe.com is VERY reasonable and they give you two weeks free. I'll never "bid" again. I'm all about the snipe now baby...all about the snipe!

Sorry about that Byron, I informed colorfulcoins about this auction early this morning, I know he collects blue toned
Roosies. If he wasn't going for it I would have. Is your ebay handle chinese-paper?... Thats who the underbidder was
and I never would have crossed that name to you....You better snipe higher for the other blue toned Roosie this seller has up.
    My bids already in....

    Good Luck
    Nick
  • When you live by the snipe, you die by the snipe. You must laern to ake your lumps. I know from experience.
  • here is one from the same seller.... probably AT but I like it!

  • It is kind of ironic that a guy selling toned coins (some in question), would be named "Baker".

Ok ok ok, I'm the sniper that got this one. As onlyroosies says, I'm working on a Blue toned set and I don't have a 58D. I'll be the first to admit I'm a bit skeptical of the toning on this coin - as has been noted previously, this guy been's selling boatloads of late 50s and early 60's silver with toning - suppose to be 2x2 paper toned.......looks questionable to me but the guy also has no negatives.......tell you what sponge bob, I don't like it and it's your at your bid price! If that works for you PM me - should know inside a week.......or if there's other Blue roosies you need, I've got a few spares though all are slabbed.

If I had it my way, stupidity would be painful!
  • YES so all of you know my Ebay name is chinese-paper123. I get that nickname because im like the only person in Indiana that collects chinese currency. One of the guys I buy off of is from China now living in USA. He calls me chinesepaper guy from indiana. Sounds funny when I talk to him he says im the only guy from indiana that buys chinese currency.

So now all of you know Not to snipe me down.

    Thanks

  • As I occasionally read in auctions - it is "not who bids last but who bids highest" before the auction closes.

Indanabyron, you outbid Nick Casio (onlyroosies) and in another thread were asking about this coin (when he was high bidder) - you should not be mad at being outsniped, you should be mad at yourself for WAITING too long to put in a high enough bid to get the item.

Next time you see a coin like this, just put in a $100 bid - make your first bid your last (anti-snipe advice) - it doesn't always work either, but at least you had some time to decide how high to go.

Oh well, at least the coin has found a good home.

    Brian.
  • Not to start another toning war, but I'm a bit skeptical of the toning.

Check out the pic I attached, it's a blow-torched 1998-D. Looks very similar to me. Is there a major difference that I am not seeing? (Rosevelts are not my area).

    Thanks,

    Kyle

I bought some low dollar items from this guy once and I can say almost certainly his stuff is AT'd and it looks WAY better in the auction than in person. Uses mucho image enhancing.

Edited to add: on the plus side he's a quick shipper and friendly and easy to deal with in that respect.

I've only won one of his previous auctions. It was a 1959 Roosie blue toned like the 58D. When I received it it looked
good to me so I sent it to NGC and they slabed it MS66. I think I sold it to colorfulcoins.
