So I read that Florida State has fired HC Norvell after 6 seasons with a $50 million buyout. Absolutely incredible.

for me the biggest question is, where's the stud backup?

preeminent program in college football, yet their relief pitcher is a 3-star true freshman. really? lol

you really prepared well for that catastrophe OSU

next 4 weeks: Oregon, Northwestern, Nebraska, Michigan

you best find a way to run that table, otherwise you're going to be on the couch making out with Michigan during the CFP

and the Wolverines like to use a LOT of tongue

As mentioned he did just fine. He deserves some criticism for missed passes but there were multiple drops including by Smith and more importantly no ones winning if the defense is just going to get bullied all night. No one is would save them if the defense is going to be Charmin soft like that. They have way to much talent for them to play like that.

Day coached scared and the team basically gave up and made it look better than it was at the end. Riley has two wins in his career against AP top 5 teams in the regular season, both are against OSU

I call this image DumbDay because he has that really confused, dumbfounded look on his face. If the shoe fits..................

One thing I'll say is that Ryan Day needs to take full resposibility for what happened and where the team is now. He had a full two weeks to get them ready and failed miserably. He talked on his radio interview about how the entire team needed to step up to help Freshman Fahey in his first start. Well, leadership starts at the top and works its way down. Everyone failed, it was a team loss. No matter what happens from here to January I suspect an overhaul might be in store. The announcers during games like to point to Matt Patricia and "coached the Detroit Lions and won three Super Bowls in New England" as his BACKground. But we don't live in yesterday and College Football, as much as any sport, has a battle cry --- What have you done for me lately? Same goes for Arthur Smith but to a lesser degree.

To my way of thinking it isn't the players who need to be under a microscope right now, it's the two Coordinators and the Head Coach. How will they respond??

About time teams get punished for no good wins like ND. Too many games left for it too really matter for most teams

Must win mean much another than ND which should have to beat Miami to be considered must win for SoCal vs Indiana to have a chance as well. Utah at 3 is crazy and UCLA at 8 but whatever for right now

The CFP Committee seems to have gotten things more ordered than the AP had done to this point, but it was only their first attempt. The hardest thing must have been deciding on the placement of the two-loss teams. I try to remember that this is all just an exercise to end up with the best matches during the Playoff and not necessarily who the best teams are ranked in order.

Also, due to the requirements of the Playoff it’s really a Top 11 plus that “Top Ranked Group of Six” team that will get in. As things now stand Ohio State would be out.

I think a 3-loss team could make the playoffs this year if Sayin returns.

IF being the biggest word in the dictionary, if UCLA/Indiana/Ohio State all win out it provides an interesting scenario for the CFP. Both UCLA and Indiana would most likely be ranked ahead of Ohio State, but Indiana wouldn’t play in the BIG 10 Championship Game.

But, that’s an awful lot of if’s.

A similar scenario could unfold in the SEC with Georgia/Alabama/Kentucky where Alabama would be ranked ahead of Kentucky but not play in the Championship Game.

    Screwy season so far.

I predict UCLA is going to lose 3 out of their next 4 games and not make the playoffs.

Depends on the teams schedule and what their wins are. A 3 loss team is very likely getting in and it might be more than one.

Which I am not a fan of. Clemson got in with 3 losses 2 years ago and got destroyed. And Bama last year and got destroyed. Hopefully the committee learned something.

The number of losses is an arbitrary distinction - what you should be after is the 12 best teams. The old rules just don't matter anymore. Now you end up with a 5 playing a 12 and that 5 is a power-4 team. You're almost certainly getting a power school playing a cinderella whether it's Clemson or who cares. Maybe in a few more years as parity pervades you'll see some teams in the bottom 3rd who can make some noise. Or like an OSU who limps in with their QB returning.

While I’m not a fan of the ranking process I have to admit that the CFP Committee tends to end up with the best teams. Further, while I grumble about the changes to the process over the years it seems to be well thought out and improving with each iteration.

This season is actually justifying the upcoming 24-team field. It has gotten increasingly difficult to know who the best teams really are. Short of making inter-conference games mandatory during the season and expanded field is the best solution.

I've never been a fan of picking the best teams because its all subjective. Should be the most deserving teams. Although I think most years the committee got it right, there have been plenty of times when they didnt get it right. Like Alabama last year, and Alabama a few years ago when they snubbed a undefeated Florida State team.

That will be a lot for Miami to overcome for maybe the most important game of their season.

For some reason I want to say it was 4.5 before the injury on Wed in practice. He probably could have tried to play through it but they decided to just do the surgery and have him healthy for the playoffs. Miami was probably getting a lot of bets too which might have pushed it at least some. They can still get them but if ND wins theyre basically a playoff lock unfortunately
