Simon you have a Great set of Peru Pillar 2 Reales , that new upgrade 1754 2R was an old friend, glad is in your collection now. It was in a NGC AU55 holder before.

Congratulations on that set @SimonW ! I tried that set before to have them XF and better. It is a challenge. Keep it going!
XF or better is pretty close to a practical impossibility, at least without a connected dealer assisting which I have not tried.
I've been working on four denominations as a priority since 2010 and for the 2R, haven't ever seen multiple dates in XF. Some of the dates which are more common than others overall (like the 1753) are scarcer in better grades vs. others.

Might as well have a goal! LOL. I'm close to VF on all of them, but I'm ver far away from XF on all, you may be right, no real reason to abandon the goal though. Originally I was thinking AU, but that's ACTUALLY impossible methinks.

Yes, I get bored collecting coins that are too easy to buy.
As for 2R in AU, I'm not aware of a 1766, 1768, 1769, or 1772. Maybe a 1763 or 1767 too. This is from a combination of plate coins in Gilboy and the TPG data. Maybe more of Sellschopp's or Patterson's coins qualify as a US AU under current grading, but there aren't many images.

You should try Guatemala 2R in AU.
That isn’t even remotely more likely. I’m not aware of an AU specimen for at least half of them, probably more. At the moment I’m just looking for ANY grade, clean, no holes.
But I’m totally down for an AU set! 😆 I haven’t yet seen an AU for sale in the five years or so I’ve been diligently looking. I’ve seen a nice 45, the price was strong, but reasonable compared to today’s standards.

Congratulations on that amazing set of Lima 2 reales. I've never seen such an assembly of the 2R's before.
Are you doing the 1 reales as well? I have only a few of that denomination, but was able to get the 1R 1766 some time ago.
I guess that is the advantage of focusing on the Santiago mint, as I do - there aren't any 2 columnario 2 reales.
You think doing Santiago Pillars has an advantage? That’s a brutal endeavor. There are 1 or 2 4Rs extant and not many more 1R’s. 50 or so 8Rs of which 15 are possibly gradeable of which 5 of them have been worked on to get them gradeable.

Yes, also doing the 1R, haven’t yet done a post about it though. I collect all of them, but 8R is limited (I’m not trying to get all the dates.) Were you The one that bought the 1766 coin from Sedwick a year ago? (or so.) I probably should have fought harder for that one. I do have one, I think it has its charm, but it’s WAY far from my goal. It’s holed.
You have a 1/2R and an 8R Santiago pillar right? I collect them too, I just don’t have any 😂. I agree with @Boosibri , brutal. I wonder which set is a bigger problem to complete, Peru or Santiago minors? Santiago is very difficult, but Peru has the 1751’s. One unique, another maybe has two examples, a third is only “reported” to have one, nobody can confirm its existence.

Depends upon definition of "complete".
The Peru 1752 4R is the one I infer you're identifying as rumored, though my recollection is that Yonaka also infers a 1751 2R may exist because of the 1752/1 over date.
I'd be interested in the 1752 4R if it actually exists and it's a half decent coin, but not the 1751s.
I'm also trying to buy all dates outside of the Peru 8R. I have 63 of the 84, excluding the 1751s, with a few of the 21 others I don't count toward completion. I'm ok with "details" coins, but the coin still has to have ok eye appeal.
Not sure I will ever complete it though, even excluding the 1752 4R. I can see where I'll give up at some point and focus on putting together a high-quality denomination set of the same date. It's a lot more doable.
Also working on the full set from Potosi, again excluding 8R. trying for a high-quality denomination set of the same year there too, 1769 or 1770.

@Achori thanks Victor! Happy to have it!

Sure thing, glad to get it in the right hands.

I know you know that, just kidding you.
