Suggestion for a change to make this forum better:

With regard to difficulties understanding post time stamps here, there is an easy fix to eliminate the confusion about when a guess about a coin's grade was made. All posts stamped with Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is the fix. What we've got now is a mish-mash of time stamps on posts (ET? CT? MT? PT? or some other time zone is being indicated by the stamp as to when the post was made?) that causes a lot of head scratching about the precise time a post was made.

The time displayed by the Shepherd Gate Clock at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London, is GMT. When the sun is at its highest point exactly above the Prime Meridian at the Royal Observatory, it is 12:00 noon at Greenwich.

How about it PCGS? GMT all the way no matter what time zone a poster happens to be posting from. Precision in grading would go hand in hand with precision in time if the software here would use ONLY GMT for time stamping of posts.

I've got two open IGNORE spots...Actually, I have five open spots. I decided to release 3 from IGNORE recently. IGNORE hurts me than it hurts individuals I put on IGNORE so I do not do IGNORE without good reason.

Are you interested in seeing the criteria I use to decide who I IGNORE?

I have nobody on IGNORE at this writing. I do believe in second chances. Presently, two have been given a second chance. I'm toying with a three strikes you're out, out for good, rule. I would like to see IGNORE with more teeth. A more total IGNORE would be one where the IGNORED one quoted (using the Quote feature) could not be seen by the one doing the IGNORING.

    @lermish:
I have nobody on IGNORE at this writing. Permanent IGNORE, far as I'm concerned, would probably be accompanied by a banning from the forum. Nobody wants to see that happen.

Just curious, what exactly is "a general theme of ignorance?" Your phrase has no substance in my view. I endured plenty of ad hominem attacks in my ebay forum days, but you are setting a new bar, a new standard of excellence in this area.

Ad hominem, short for argumentum ad hominem ('argument directed at the person'), is a rhetorical tactic of attacking the character, motive, or some other attribute of the person making an argument rather than the substance of the argument itself.

There's no point in arguing with you.

No matter what anybody says about your constant misinformation and cluelessness, your general obliviousness doesn't allow you to understand when you're in the wrong (which is nearly constantly).

That you think this constitutes an ad hominem attack is just further proof of your inattentiveness to anything that doesn't agree with your worldview.

I have you on ignore, please feel free to put me on ignore also.

You are making a big mistake if you think readers don't understand the remark directed to me, as seen above, to actually be an un·con·scious projection of you. Experiment: Look in a mirror while uttering the words (as seen above) that you have written. Do more than once. You'll know you have broken through the shell when you find yourself saying, "by golly, mr1931s is right!"

Just curious, what is "general obliviousness"? Once again, you are inching towards my IGNORE list at an alarming rate by coming up with nonsense phrases such as this.

Projection, done continuously and unchecked, is an increasingly tough nut to crack.

It appears I'm not on ignore which makes, "I have you on ignore,..."an obvious lie.

Oddly enough, the posting member I had the most trouble with was the high bidder on my 1909-D dime that I was selling to raise money to buy loved ones some presents. He never got the coin because he didn't pay for it. He thought I should hold the coin indefinitely for him until he was ready to pay for it. Three days went by after the sale, still no money. I cancelled the sale at the 72nd hour and blocked him from participating in future auctions.

I haven't seen him post here for quite a few years now. I think I scared him away from after he threatened me with telling his story in posts here. I advised him via email exchanges that doing that would not be in his best interests. Actually, I'm glad he didn't pay. I told him after the 72nd hour passed and I was cancelling the sale for reason of non-payment that he didn't deserve this special coin, a 1909-D dime, NGC MS 62. My opinion was that the piece was undergraded a bit. Really, MS 63 or choice uncirculated was more like what it should have graded imo. These were the days before bean...
