Seeing @erikthredd hasn't posted since February I started an updated NBA thread. Hope he's OK wherever he may be.........

The Philadelphia 76ers open the 2026–27 regular season on Opening Night against the defending champion New York Knicks on October 20, 2026, at Madison Square Garden. Then 2 days later they are at home taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Should be interesting to see how the Philly coach will manage playing time for Embiid and James.

Strus hurt again - glad Cleveland traded him to the Warriors - he was just so inconsistant for the Cavs.

"On Monday, the team announced that Strus suffered a partial tear of the plantar fascia in his right foot. He will be reevaluated in four weeks, effectively ruling out for the remainder of the preseason and the start of the regular season."

His left foot last year when he was with the cavs.............
"Max Strus missed the majority of last season with a Jones fracture in his left foot that required surgery.
He suffered the break during offseason workouts and underwent an operation in August 2025. This injury sidelined him for the first five months of the season. He did not make his season debut for the Cleveland Cavaliers until mid-March 2026, playing in only 12 regular season games before returning for the playoffs."

    Oh my.

    Just think.

In a little over 8 months (mid June, 2027) the 2026-2027 NBA Champion will be crowned. Those 8 months should go by very fast, don't you think?

Last night I did watch the preseason game between the Lakers and GSW. It is strange seeing the Lakers fielding a team that does not include LeBron James; that fields a team with his son seeing a lot of playing time [he played well last night and is played much better than he did the previous two years]; and fielding a team with a large number of players who are white.

As for GSW, their #11 draft pick (Yaxel Lindenborg?) [24 years old, 6'9", 240 lbs out of MIchigan] looks like he is going to be a very, very good player. He is NBA ready and is not an inexperienced youngster of 18, 19 or 20 years of age. He just turned 24 and he played at the college level for 6 years.

Well I live in the Cleveland area and our winters from late December to early March is snowy, cold, and depressing with clouds and hardly a glimpse of the sun - so time drags by so slowly........... The Daytona 500 is a glimmer of hope that the winter weather is drawing to a close but still time drags..........when March Madness starts to happen then time starts speeding up.........Soon talk of the Guardians fills the airwaves and finally the talk of NBA playoffs start..........then it's football season again as summer flies by.......... :D:D:D

Talk about LeBron James son - the last pre-season game I saw had him playing 21 minutes with 4 point, 0-for from 3 but at least he had 5 dimes. I just wonder if he's going to stick with LA for the season?

    I forgot all about Kyrie.........

"Mavericks 132, Rockets 115: Kyrie Irving (17 pts in 22 minutes) returned in good form to spark Dallas to a win in our second contest in Macao, looking healthy in his first game since March 2025."

I can't wait for NBA to start, I'm itching to be sweating a PRA Parlay only to lose by a single point by one player 😖

The Minnesota Timberwolves could be dynamic with a true, young point guard.

All indications from pre-season is that it's finally freeing up Anthony Edwards to play a SG and not handle the ball so much.

Time will tell but there's some parallels to Kyler Murray & Vikings. Take a guy that's been with one team that didn't win much and see how he does in a situation that's better suited from top to bottom...

    Enjoy your collection!

Not good news for Warriors fans.............

"Warriors center Kristaps Porzingis remains out indefinitely.......................
The 31-year-old, who has been out of training camp and preseason games, says he’s seeing doctors to figure out health."

Hard to believe LeBron James and Jarret Allen are both 6'9"...............

"Jarrett Allen of the Cleveland Cavaliers is officially listed at 6-foot-9"

"LeBron James is officially listed by the NBA at 6 feet 9 inches"

There have been comments made on local sports talk shows that the Lakers this year are too white.

    Interesting take/opinion/mindset/point of view.?

I don't think much of anything Stephen A. Smith has to say but time will tell.

During tonights game: The Warriors had a bad shooting night (39% FG) and the Lakers were on fire (59% FG) before garbage time set in during the 4th quarter.
Kessler (26), Reaves (23), LaRavia (10), and Docic (28) combined for 87. Curry only had 16 points from the fieald (23 overall) and really had no help on offense. Bad shooting vs good shooting dictates the game more than skin color ever will.

Wow! Didn't expect the Cavs to be up by 24 at the half - Peyton Watson 0 - 6 from the field but Mitchell 22pts at the half. So far so good..................

Yikes - nothing like the Cavs to get outscored 21 to 37 in the 3rd to actually make a game of it for Philly!

Jeez - scored 47 points against the Cavs last night with a bum knee? :o

"Minnesota guard Anthony Edwards needs an arthroscopic procedure to alleviate issues with his right knee and will miss several weeks, a person with knowledge of the matter said Tuesday."

"Edwards has been listed on injury reports with a right knee issue, though it wasn’t clear what the problem was. The Timberwolves had listed him as questionable for their game against Golden State on Wednesday, before the decision was evidently made to go forward with the surgery."

"Edwards was off to a flying start this season, averaging 33.3 points and leading Minnesota to three wins in its first four games. He scored 45 points in the season-opening win at Miami, then had 47 points in a loss to Cleveland on Monday night."

You forgot to add the (bullcrap?) reason why - :D

    .

    • After driving into the paint, Harden kicked the ball out to an open Kawhi Leonard in the corner, then turned around and leaped to try to block the shot.
    • The Reason: Harden later explained that the Los Angeles Clippers had been going through a sluggish stretch (a "fog"), and he did it purely to bring energy, excitement, and a laugh to the team.
    • The Context: The Clippers were already leading by 21 points in the third quarter when it happened, similar to a viral moment years earlier when LeBron James jokingly defended teammate Rajon Rondo.
