What is ironic is the guy never posted anything I felt constructive and/or valid (along with the NJ Guy) and have long had comments hidden.

I almost want the guy unbanned only to stop seeing comments relating to him.

I’ll give him props on his contributions especially in chemistry/metallurgy. He was also one of the few posters willing to engage in a thoughtful legal discussion related to coins that I tried to have in a thread.

What a sad thread. This place used to be educational and informative.

One thread does not a forum make.

Your words are the exact words I was going to post yesterday. There are plenty of unhappy posts seen in this forum but remind readers/posters that being happy, or not being happy, is a choice. Don't ever let another individual, or group of individuals define your happiness. Choose the educational and informative threads and posts here, of which there are plenty, and reject or ignore, the unhappy.

    100% well said!

Even when I disagree with @jmlanzaf, I find most of his posts to be valid. And they’re often informative on a very wide range of topics.

If you truly feel that way then as you know there is plenty to read.

Obviously we do not agree and no need to waste my time on his needless invalid comments.

Some people post only because they feel the need to be recognized. As sad as it is it is a common issue across all social platforms. Obviously the guy knows his comments are currently not visible, yet continues to comment. For some this is their only social engagement and that urge to be recognized displaces any desire to be accurate or relevant.

This is a pretty accurate take. The number of last word back and forths in threads about US Mint products and other topics is something this forum doesn't really need and is not constructive other than to feed the egos of the participants. Back and forth a few times is fine but when you have literally pages and dozens of posts essentially saying the same thing over and over again that becomes tiresome and repetitive.

If you're not interested in what someone has to say, skip over their comments.

Let me first say that I do not know the individual who was put in "forum jail" (to use the jargon from earlier in this thread), and I do not know why he was put in jail.

While I think you offer sound advice. I will also add that most forums have rules of etiquette, as well as moderators to enforce those rules. In all instances, including this one, I want the moderators to apply the rules consistently, and I trust they have done so.

Not really a complaint, more of an observation and one with which our host apparently agreed.

    Fair enough.

Well, no. The suspension was not because of "last word back and forths in threads about US Mint products and other topics". I don't know what our hosts think of those threads, but it appears they don't consider them to be banning offenses.

How hard is it, to skip over comments and threads you don't find to be constructive? Personally, I find it to be pretty easy. But then, maybe that's just me. :)

Fair enough as well and I usually do. The topic is of basically of no interest to me either way although I do find it curious why someone who cannot post continues to repeatedly do so. Just curious, though, not especially interested.

    Seems like you're walking a fine line - :D

I sometimes wonder why someone who can post continues to repeatedly do so. But hey- whatever. :)

edited to add... You could ask why he continues to post. I wouldn't be surprised if he told you.
