The truth of the matter is the University of Southern California is a better school in most regard.

As to the name, while the University of South Carolina was founded in 1801 it did not arrive at the name "University of South Carolina" until 1906. The University of South California was founded in 1880 and has continuously operated as "USC" since their inception.

The internet agrees as when you type in usc.edu you to to The Real USC.

I also appreciate the consistency of saying it all the time... like a mantra... Both of those can be true.

Iowa isnt making the playoffs. That schedules a joke and Northwestern would probably be their best win. Washington is bad

Texas a@m schedule was a joke last year and they got in. Nebraska is undefeated. No way a one loss BIG ten team gets left out in a 12 team field.

Texas A&M beat ND. LSU., and Mizzou last year. Their schedule was way harder

For Iowa to be a 1 loss team that means they win the B!G championship and yes they would be in the automatic bid. They will be a 2 loss team at best with losses to both hard games they played assuming they run the table the rest of the regular season which is highly unlikely

Its possible Iowa could win out and not play in the BIG championship game. Two undefeated BIG TEN teams could play or even a one loss team. Would depend on a tiebreaker. Iowa could still make the playoffs as a one loss team without playing in the BIG champ game.

Basebal guy said John Mateer is garbage, yet he was good enough to beat #1.

Mateer didnt beat them. They had 14 points without the offense on the field. Mateer did nothing other than not turn the ball over while Archie did his Mateer impression with those bad picks.

The OU defense won the game which I have said all along is elite. All Mateer did was JJ McCarthy Trent Dilfer just dont lose the game for us, other than no turnovers he was terrible

Nonsense. Mateer made some great passes on that final drive that put his team in field goal range to win the game. Give some credit where credit is due.

They would need a lot of help from other teams with that schedule when their one real game with OSU was a blowout. Theres a lot of two loss teams that would get in over them if they dont make the B!G championship game. Their best case would be to get to the B!G championship game and lose and then its 2 loses to almost certainly OSU and no real top win. They could finish back end of top 25 but not winning the conference thats really their ceiling

Nebraska isnt tough. Theyre okay at best their record just looks good from 3 cupcakes and then getting bottom of the barrel Mich State and Maryland. Northwestern isnt anything special. The PSU win really hyped them up but PSU lost to Wisconsin at home. PSU was supposed to be undefeated right now with SoCal being their only tough game of the year but they have 2 losses and no real way to prove those were flukes even if they win tonight. The rest of their schedule is basically against the basement of the conference

Anyone can have a high competition percentage throwing 5 yard passes. He also did nothing and missed a bunch of open guys.

    John Mateer stats
    18/26 155 yard no TDs
12 rushes for -6 yards and a fumble that was recovered.

Yea sure he was great. The only thing he did well was no turn the ball over and watch his defense win the game

    Florida is a fraud.
    Texas A&M is a fraud.
The basebal gu is a fraud.

Texas losing to an unranked Oklahoma presents an interesting realignment for the AP Voters this week. If Georgia wins it’s easy, they are the new #1, if they lose then that passes to Notre Dame and no, not an idle Miami as our resident Mister Knowitall will say. Texas, to my way of thinking, should drop to about 6-7.

Chris Fowler doing Bama-Georgia is a really good play by play announcer. I like to listen to him, he gets excited during a big play but doesn’t overdo it.
An earlier game I was watching the announcer was trying to be overly dramatic like a bad actor even changing his voice making it deeper during a big play.

@coolstanley, Alabama might drop down to 8-9 but I’m not sure they should. Sure, they lost at home, but it was to the new Top Dog. There’s really no logic in how these Voters make their picks so anything can happen.

We’ll get a look at how they think next week when the same scenario unfolds with Ohio State vs. Indiana. How will they punish the loser in that game compared to Alabama??

@perkdog, the Indiana game worries me because Ohio State has some lingering problems. The defense under Matt Patricia seems undisciplined and keeps having problems with penalties. The OL struggles to consistently pass block. If the Hoosiers exploit those things it’ll be a tough game.

I think it's silly to diss on Indiana until they lose a game. Those poll projections mean nothing if they keep winning - even if some are sloppy. There were a couple games last year on last drives with seconds left that they kept their season clean.

Difference was last year those nail bitters were against Miami, OSU, and PSU before they went to crap where this year theyve had to fight for their life now against NW and Nebraska the only two decent teams theyve played so far. L:ast year they were easily handling teams like that

Bama no drop in AP poll.
I’m so tired of the bama favoritism. It’s been like that for about 20 years now. Ohio state dropped 5 when they lost by 1 point, Texas dropped 5, and bama stays there when they lost by 3 in their home stadium to the number 2 team. They should be at 10-11 right now.

This is why SOS is a fraud.

    1) Florida (because South Carolina might have a player selected in next year's NFL draft. and Isaias disrupted their sleep schedule.)
    2) South Carolina (because they might have a player selected in next year's draft. an extremely dangerous 7-loss team.)
    3) Missouri (beat the #1 team in the nation to a pulp. but, they're looking up at an extremely dangerous 7-loss team because the Buc-ee's in Florence had Cherry Maple jerky in stock and the one in Springfield didn't.)

SOS isnt a fraud. Its not implemented enough.

What your missing is Bama already had two dominate wins against two ranked teams. The OSU game was week two and they only had a win against a cupcake so you will fall for those early ones. They didnt have any sort of resume to save them

It doesnt matter anyway, OSU is going to beat Indiana and it likely wont even be close and theyll win the B!G unless they really just crap the bed and an AP poll will be meaningless

Everyone outside of the delusional sec fans agree Bama should've fell several spots.

    Oh wait
Hold on, I think IU just scored on Alabama again.

There is definitely some bias built into the rankings. Also, college football media and coaches are lazy. They mainly focus on the team they cover and the conference. There is also the ranking game that the SEC community plays. “Rank our conference teams higher so when my team loses it’s a good loss because it just means more.

LSU still being ranked is egregious.

No they shouldnt they have 2 dominate ranked wins.

Your obsession with past season s with the roster turnovers and everything else is just weird. Oh wait Alabama just won their 6th national title in 11 years. What are we doing with things that have nothing to do with this year

OSU is literally the B!Gs best team by far what are you complaining about that they may need to play a hard game even though theres a bunch of season left before the playoffs? If OSU doesnt win the B!G thats on them

@coolstanley, I am as far from being a delusional SEC fan as you’ll find and I picked the Teams exactly as the AP Poll did but on Saturday night. Alabama is right where they should be in relation to the other teams.

We’re only at the mid-point of the season, the SEC teams will settle and the Big 10 teams will have their just assessment, it’s the way the schedule figures things out. It’s easy enough to guess who the 12 team field is right now and in the next few years when they figure out how to get to 24 teams it’ll be possible to guess the field before a game is even played.

My hunch is that this season will have 1-2 two loss teams and maybe 2-3-4 undefeated teams. Parity. 👍
