@Maywood said: @coolstanley, I am as far from being a delusional SEC fan as you’ll find and I picked the Teams exactly as the AP Poll did but on Saturday night. Alabama is right where they should be in relation to the other teams.
We’re only at the mid-point of the season, the SEC teams will settle and the Big 10 teams will have their just assessment, it’s the way the schedule figures things out. It’s easy enough to guess who the 12 team field is right now and in the next few years when they figure out how to get to 24 teams it’ll be possible to guess the field before a game is even played.
My hunch is that this season will have 1-2 two loss teams and maybe 2-3-4 undefeated teams. Parity. 👍
This is what I mean by delusional ''This year with our SOS I think a 4-loss SEC team should make the 12-team CFP.''
Bama fans really believe that nonsense. They lose a game on their home field and think its ok they didnt drop.
Do you think Ohio State or Indiana losing at home would get the same treatment?

That's reassuring. I also don't have high hopes for the Badgers to beat UCLA... and Iowa is going to be a challenge too. But like we all know kind of how these teams shake out so when you're like. Waters wet. Spiders are scary. We get it.

Good news is probably not going to be a lot of people at the UCLA game but UCLA should win that.
SoCal the Riley model which he had at OU too is its easier to outscore people than play defensive battles. In some ways hes right but they give up a ton of points to everyone. If someone can slow down the offense at all they get in trouble fast. Rutgers put up 35 on them.
Wisconsin and Iowa are about the same level I wouldnt be scared of that one but definitely not a gimme
Alabama and Indiana have played pretty much the same. Saying Indiana isn't very good and Alabama is a powerhouse does indeed show the SEC bias, that's the basebal gu and his ilk. Despite the Big 10 being the better teams head-to-head and in the Bowls/Playoffs for the past several years there is still defference given to the SEC is these Polls, it's just something I've gotten accustomed to. It has less of an affect since we've moved from 2-4-12 and soon 24 teams in the Playoff.
Soon the Polls won't matter and inane discussions like "My Dad can beat up your Dad" won't mean much. Conference Championship games will dissappear and I hope more inter-league play takes place. The easiest way will be to take the Top 5 teams from each of the Power Four and add 4 at-large teams.
Sounds like fun.

@Maywood said: @perkdog, the Indiana game worries me because Ohio State has some lingering problems. The defense under Matt Patricia seems undisciplined and keeps having problems with penalties. The OL struggles to consistently pass block. If the Hoosiers exploit those things it’ll be a tough game.
Good points, i don't have any skin in the game
I hope it's a good game but I do think OSU is going to win
The basebal gu thinks everyone an SEC team has played is a stud. Take #15 Kentucky, they were an unranked doormat in Week 2 when Alabama beat them. The ‘Tide was actually losing at the half but steam
rolled them after that. And Mississippi State, talk to me when the seasons over and they’re in the realm of the unranked.
I tried to explain last year but it falls on deaf ears like anything anyone tries to explain to you. Strength of Schedule is only relevant at the end of the season, it is meaningless during the season because it is constantly changing. Look at a scoresheet now and you’ll see that it says #4 Ohio State lost to #7 Texas, but we know that isn’t what happened.
But yeah, think how you want.

Anyone read/hear about when Dante Moore might be back to play at Oregon?? The Ducks seemed out of synch before his injury and now they’ve fallen out of the Top 25 and most probably out of the Playoffs.

I have no vested interest in the outcome and only watched a quick replay of the “phantom non-call” at the goal line. To me the defender and the ball arrived at the same time. But rules changed and rules interpreted are past my pay grade. There are so many iffy calls on pass plays and non-calls during a game that my head hurts.
This I know: when a team needs a miracle or penalty after playing four quarters of football they are risking a loss. Alabama really had no excuse to be in that position at the end of the game.

Yesterday Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed an Executive Order allowing athletes at State Colleges and Universities in Ohio a fifth year of eligibility. I can't see how this is a good thing, just like I can't see how it's a good thing to have Politics involved in the NCAA.

They might as well just do away with calling it College and start calling it the NFL minor leagues, call guys up when needed and send em down
Since Politicians want to dabble in running College Athletics I think it’s only fair play that College Athletics gets to dabble in Politics. I’m all in for that 12-person CFP Committee taking over for the Ohio Legislature.
I don’t think Gov. DeWine would like that.

Good ole Rocky Flop.
I had read about this and posted that it was getting close, didn’t anticipate it happening so soon. Also, as I posted earlier it’ll be possible to have a real good idea of who’ll be involved even before the season starts: Top 5 in each Power 4 and 4-at large. With Notre Dame an Independent that means 3-at large.

Theres going to be so many bad games with that format. Conference championships will probably have to go too or theyll be playing into march
A ton of bad games for sure. In a few more years 24 wont be enough, so what will be next? 36? 48 team playoff? More playoff games means more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
When will it end?
Just think down the road a 8-5 Alabama or Ohio State team will be good enough to make playoffs.
The difficult thing of 24 teams will be how the format works its way down to 16. I’m sure the CFP brain trust has something in mind but it’s gonna be tricky. Ideally 32 works best.

The 7-5 Bama or OSU would be a better team than several that would get in. Navy would have made it last year with 24 teams. Army Navy is the b est game of the year but service academies have no chance of winning a Natty
Dont forget too the Army Navy game Dec 14th has to have an exclusive window where its the only college football game on so either we get some Friday night playoff games or a ton of them at the same time in the later windows.
Its money for sure but 24 is stupid. Id rather stay at 12 than 24. 16 is the right number after that teams have no chance this isnt basketball
