Postscript 2026: It was fun. Like following your kids' travel ball team until they land in the confines of a very worthy opponent and get crushed. The Padres evolved in the upward direction, while the Cubs whiffled their way to a 62-63 finish after a 27-12 start. Not very promising, when you consider who might not even be on the team next season, if there is one. They played like they were already on vacation. They were tired and wrung out. PCA ended it on a lousy note with bad pitch selection, swings and a worse mood. I think they all knew what they were up against. But, there just seemed to be a lack of enthusiasm. And, of course, hitting.

I look forward to October baseball without stress and nervousness. S.D. vs. Milwaukee should be a great matchup.

We'll revisit Pete when he supposedly receives his seasons accolades, then again next year. Feel free to share your whatevers here, though. :)

baseball can have such an anticlimactic feel to it

you grind for half a year to get to where you want to be, then 48 hours later you're vaporized

Then we consider all the energy that these guys put into a season and what to do with it when there's no more games. I think it's rather astounding that PCA was one of the few players who played every game. Almost every inning. It's good to be so young. But, times like these ask for maturity. And acceptance. Baseball is glorious and also very cruel.

This year carries extra weight with lockout on the horizon.

Cubs did it to themselves with that 4-20 stretch. Boston just wasnt that good and benefited from the AL being trash

Truth. Thats basically assured at this point. Might be lucky to even get a fake 60 game season next year.

Padres stealing so many outs. Stop that. I thought that snap by Edman was the play of the day. Until…

How cutre the Brewers got saved by a roof amd I hate Preller but that France hit was a 500 foot bomb plus. Roofs are a joke

That wasnt Machado that was France and that ball was hitting the back wall of the third deck at least. Complete joke. The Manny AB was trash you can tell how his are going to go when he takes d shot fastballs just looking hes going to swing and miss at something

Twins can play outside, Tigers can play outside, Boston can play side, Cubs White Sox Indians etc. No more roofs in baseball unless theyre at least 700 feet tall.

I know that was France. You obviously don’t watch Baseball and know nothing about why I would say that.

I don’t know if it stays fair. It looked like it would have to me. I’m sure someone will show me on YouTube later. We will never know if the Brewers would have come back. But that’s home field. Eat it Machado.

And yeah. I was thinking knuckle curve but Machado was in statue mode and I said to my wife. Another 4 seam but not so middle. Cause megill was middle middle ish on the first 2. What an escape.

Tomorrow Henderson. Now because I say this it will probably be a brutal defeat but…. Who cares. I think this kid is going to have a HOF career. I know. That’s a crazy thing to say. We will see.

Lol lowest rated WS in modern times if that happens. If were going to use exit velo, launch, spin rate, vert and horizontal movement and track strikes and balls with comps why cant we do that for clear homeruns that hit a roof. That ball wasnt even close to staying in the yard if that was an open air stadium. I dont like Preller at all and wish they would have won like 2 games so he wouldnt get to trade away their farm every time, but I really dont like games being decided bvy nonsense like that either. Maybe the Brewers come back but anyone can see that ball was a HR and not even close and France got out for hitting it too well.

We use all that stuff for HR estimates of distance, that ball was gone gone gone. Use it for everything or use it for nothing

He does that crap way to much this year where he sits off speed and just gets himself in bad counts off of pitches that should have been hammered with no interest in hitting unless its what he wanted. Didnt used to do that but here we are.

SD should have stolen third with the pinch runner before Megill ever came in and that fly to right ties the game.

Right handed hitter left handed pitcher paying no attention to 2nd, 3rd playing deep what are you pinch running for if you arent going to push it

Forgot to mention, at least Tampa has rules that allow for certain balls that hit the ceiling or crap hanging down to be called HRs. Why isnt that the case everywhere

Statcast said it would be a HR in 1 park. I don’t know what Tampa’s rules are but I guess those regular season games do matter. Please keep crying. It’s super cool.

Assuming someday soon that MLB will be adopting Banana Ball rules. Maybe they can put that in the new agreement with ownership.

That’s because your team plays in a park with shag walls.

Was that the statcast sold by Temu? A ball with 100+ exit velo, 40-50 degree launch angle that hits the roof 10 feet in front of the fence doesnt fall sort of being a HR anywhere. (Its not going to just die and fall straight down on its own

Turns out its hard to win a division when the Dodgers are in it and you have to play them 13 times. I dont care I wish theyd win 0 games a year until Preller is fired but I dont want to see any team robbed like that

Tampa that would have been ruled a HR

No. It was measured at 49 degrees and 105 MPH off the bat. When I first saw it I thought it would go out but I think it would have been foul. Today Vauers hit a ball at 47 degrees at 106.6 MPH off the bat to the right side of the park. 345 to right fence and 344 to left. His was caught just in front of the track. Until I can see the Hawk Eye data and get spin info it’s tough to be sure. What I am sure about is the game is over and Brewers are up 2-0 and your closer just left his chin exposed.

In Tampa that would have been a HR. Cool. The game was in MKE. What a baby.

Foul is the only argument and not a strong one. Foul also isnt an out. Correria hit one like that at Boston to basically same part of left and it went across the street

He aint my closer I have no pro teams in any sport. I like carte rain players

I hate Miller Preller got ripped off in the trade for him as always and just unloads the farm system every time for things they already have. Couldnt care less about him or the team and dislike any player that Preller overpays for which basically lets me like Tatis, Merrill, Machado when he decides he wants to swing, and and some random guys for that team. Other GMs basically just say no no no no and he just keeps throwing in more more and more. He got lucky one time with Tatis and has sucked in basically every trade since.

I dont want to see any team get hosed on that nonsense like that which is the only reason I mentioned it.

Fair enough but I haven’t seen a very compelling argument that it was going out. Initially I thought it was the longest home run ever hit. Then when I saw the statcast data I thought it was much less likely.

So you’ve mentioned it 4 times now and the game is over and feeling hosed is the best thing the Padres get to feel right now but the physics isn’t agreeing as much as it seemed.

As usual I come off more confused than anything else after reading a basebal21 post. This isn’t fair galaxy already made me look up what a dime was in basketball, after I already learned it was 5k in the gambling thread. 🤔

I always thought Rico Carty was underrated but I don’t know if he was good in the rain.
Always thought Miguel Indurain had one of the coolest athlete names.

I think if I remember correctly he has said that he has no team, but he's a fan of certain players. Something along those lines. I think he also said that one of his favorite players is Jake Bauers.
