Postscript 2026: It was fun. Like following your kids' travel ball team until they land in the confines of a very worthy opponent and get crushed. The Padres evolved in the upward direction, while the Cubs whiffled their way to a 62-63 finish after a 27-12 start. Not very promising, when you consider who might not even be on the team next season, if there is one. They played like they were already on vacation. They were tired and wrung out. PCA ended it on a lousy note with bad pitch selection, swings and a worse mood. I think they all knew what they were up against. But, there just seemed to be a lack of enthusiasm. And, of course, hitting.
I look forward to October baseball without stress and nervousness. S.D. vs. Milwaukee should be a great matchup.
We'll revisit Pete when he supposedly receives his seasons accolades, then again next year. Feel free to share your whatevers here, though.

baseball can have such an anticlimactic feel to it
you grind for half a year to get to where you want to be, then 48 hours later you're vaporized
Then we consider all the energy that these guys put into a season and what to do with it when there's no more games. I think it's rather astounding that PCA was one of the few players who played every game. Almost every inning. It's good to be so young. But, times like these ask for maturity. And acceptance. Baseball is glorious and also very cruel.

Playoffs 😅
I'm a little bummed out to be honest. and a little scared of the Padres right now.
Knock on wood but after a poor first half, Tatis has been on fire the 2nd half
Im glad the series ended quickly since it wasnt even on TV

This year carries extra weight with lockout on the horizon.
Cubs did it to themselves with that 4-20 stretch. Boston just wasnt that good and benefited from the AL being trash
Truth. Thats basically assured at this point. Might be lucky to even get a fake 60 game season next year.
