I agree, ridiculous pricing for an ounce of silver. They want $400 for the 2.5 ounce version. I couldn't justify buying the Batman coin at these absurd prices.
Licensing fees. Just like Disney rounds.
The only one that did anything for me was the Superman gold piece. He's my favorite super hero. It's dates back to the 1950s with the only "Adventures of Superman" TV show which stared George Reeves.
I didn't buy it because I didn't feel like having $3,000 tied up in a modern coin. I could have bought one for a little less than issue on the bourse floor at FUN. I guess if you believe in the current high prices for gold, it's not the worst of buys.
Batman gold is very cool looking.
I'll not be buying any of the series.

The U.S. Mint has turned into the Royal Canadian Mint. I was going to say as bad as the mint in Liberia that makes all of those tribute coins, but I think we make them for Liberia.
The stuff the U.S. Mint is now issuing is getting down to the level of a third world country. How many collectors are there who are going to buy and collect all of this stuff? No many, and it will be fewer as the years pass by, especially if the mint continues to issue "stuff" at this rate.
The U.S. Mint is becoming like the Franklin Mint, and those of us, who have been in this hobby for a while, know where the value of that "stuff" as gone.
I don't believe these medals will ever even hold their value. Why at least they didn't place a date on the Supergirl medal would prevent me from purchasing it much less the price. Ridiculous. JMO

I tend to agree. But this seems to be a global trend. The British Royal Mint, the Paris Mint, the Bavarian Mint, the Central Mint of China - they all are producing a greater number of gimmicky and colorful products. Maybe this stems, in part, from the decline in use of circulating coinage, and hence the decline in seigniorage income, forcing the mints to find other sources of profit. Whatever the cause, as along as people want to buy such dross, mints will keep making it.
I bought the 2.5 oz Superman for my grandson and the Batman 2.5 oz for my son. Liked both of them but I paid the intro price, not 400. Don’t think I would have paid 400.
Glad I got the Batman 1oz for a friend, and on a whim got the Wonder Woman 1oz for myself before the price went up.
I wouldnt have done that now.
