Tariffs on cards from Canada?

Regarding tariffs, this is the secondary part of the problem. Sports cards are a non tarrif product into the United States. The main part of the problem is:
President Trump has implemented changes to U.S. import rules that eliminate the duty-free de minimis exemption for low-value shipments, requiring all imports to be subject to applicable duties. The de minimis exemption, which previously allowed imports valued under $800 to enter the U.S. duty-free, has been revoked. From what I understand its changed to $19.00. This was changed April 2, 2025 by executive order.
I ship about 5 shipments a week to the United States with once in awhile the shipment is a sports card shipment.
When ship I am presented with options. I have used UPS and Fedex and they are not charging a tarrif on sports cards but its a import charge for paperwork (approx $10 to $15) - if you want to complain to these USA companies why they are charging so much thats where a person effort should go. It seems they are taking advantage of this situation.
I have the option also to pick Canada Post and that turns into USPS upon entry into the United States and I can pay the entry fee charges which are alot cheaper at $2.99. So USA customer pays no extra charges. But this can take 7-10 business days and no tracking where UPS and Fedex are 5 business days.
But I am very clear with my auctions - its free shipping. I am not 100% about your importing rules - thats for the customer to know o.,
In Canada we have been charged custom and duties charges for years when receiving items from the USA.
I thought this was a sports card forum and not a political forum

I bought a card from Canada and it was $13 and cost me $1 for import fees. Cards like these have been taking almost a month lately though and that's been a massive pain.

It has not arrived yet. They go through ebay's shipping hub in Canada and I'm assuming it will arrive USPS.

If Canada stopped sending crude to the US, Canada would be in a trade deficit with the US. Also, Canada is the US’s #2 export market by a slim margin vs Mex - we buy a ton from the US. Been to Vegas or FLA lately?

So don’t worry about us, we have more land, oil, fresh water. We are better educated, more fit, and healthier. I LOVE the US and my American friends, was there last week, will be there in two weeks. Both countries need each other in many ways and hopefully sanity returns. Don’t fall for the BS in the media, trade is balanced and this trade war will cost all us pleebs more, diesel at 6.50 a gallon today and will be 8 bucks before you know it.

Dan, I just bought some Toronto sun NHL action from Canada, I had no problem with the reasonable cost and the seller sending it through Canada post to US post. The seller explained and took a photo of the package. He’s was phenomenal with his communication! It went smooth.

No problem I’m not worried about Canada and I wasn’t attacking the people of Canada that’s wasn’t my intent!. Someone was being ganged up on for speaking up for the president of the United States! Regardless .. read back. And he got the business from Frick and Frack for doing it, I did bring up politics just to back up the guy defending an American president whether you like him or not, show some class. And as far as all your land and lakes .. it’s beautiful.. My parents were born in Winnipeg. 90% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the American border. That’s great.. I’m done with this, it’s why I don’t waste my time on sports boards! I agree with you politicians most are all no good!

This is some good information as sometimes I am paying no fees/tariffs for cards from Canada and the last time it was a large sum. It seems if the seller indicates shipping by Canada Post, it may be subject to a minimal fee (the last one I got UPS had a $26 or so fee).

A bit unrelated but in July I purchased a Japan issues only $24 USD Jazz Music CD from a Japan Vendor (CDJapan). It was shipped via Fedex. A few weeks later I received an $18.95 invoice for customs fees etc... Total Joke.
