Well, the first discovered IKE Prototype Coin is up or auction again on Great Collections.
I'm curious to see what the final hammer price will be on Oct 18, 2026.
It was first sold at a Heritage Auction on Jan 14, 2022
I find it hard to believe that it's been 18 years since I came across this coin at a Long Beach Show. Probably because I remember it like it was yesterday.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

What was the price realized at the original Heritage auction? Is it possible there are additional examples to the three known? @19Lyds is there a published story with additional information of your original discovery? I would be interested in what led you to discovering this coin.
I lot viewed the coin at Heritage and took photos of the ginormous holder
Is this the same coin as the OP posted which is currently in the GC auction? (Because the one I photographed says Discovery Coin but is in a different holder with a different cert #)
I think it's the same coin and now has a Judd number added to the cert. It was also probably sent in for regrade when the Judd number was added.

Such a beautiful coin with a great story behind it, too. I find it just as if not more interesting than several of the "giants" of the hobby that frequently sell for hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars despite often being significantly more common. Unfortunately there will always be people that disagree just because it's an Ike, though.
I collect world proof sets, coins featuring composers, mid-20th century U.S. proof coins, U.S. type coins, and whatever else I want.
