The official countdown to Andy Reid getting fired this season
Andy Reid was a great head coach, no doubt about it. A first ballot hall of famer for sure. However Andy is now old and washed up. He should have gracefully retired after last season. But instead he decided to go out on his sword.
Before the end of this season, even Taylor Swift will be howling in her irritating voice, that Andy needs to go. She may even write a song about it called, “Goodbye Andy.”
One thing Andy does have going in his favor. Patrick Mahomes does seem revigorated and possibly ready to return to his old form. However I doubt if that will be enough.

Reid got axed after going 4-12 with the Eagles. He went 6-11 last season.
At 68 years old, and never in good physical shape. He's done - stick a fork in him. Only a question of how soon. He is already a leading candidate for getting axed on Black Monday, if he lasts until then.

I actually had been thinking about doing this thread anyway. Admittedly, Darin inspired me to finally do it.
We shall see who gets the last laugh. 😉

Below is a screenshot of Reid's final season with the Eagles. Notice he got off to a good start at 3-1 then he and the team went into the tank. Granted, Andy was having a number of family problems at the time, which I'm not going to discuss. However he was depressed about it, and it did affect his coaching. Everything seemed to be lingering, and despite his fairly good success with the Eagles, the owner decided to part ways with him.
That being said, I think the Chief's catastrophe in the Super Bowl, despite Reid's outstanding success with the Chiefs, depressed him as it would anybody getting badly shellacked like that. I think that brutal loss affected his coaching last season. Perhaps he finally got over it, but I'm not so sure. As mentioned, he is 68 years old, and with his long time weight problem, there are a lot of negatives with him going into this new season. Very tough if not almost impossible for a guy like this to compete both mentally and physically, putting in the long hours, etc, that a head coach needs to do in order to successfully compete with the motivated, aggressive, younger coaches in the league.
Yes, the Chiefs are still talented, and Mahomes is always dangerous. But they still need coaching and a workable game plan to win in this league. My opinion is Reid doesn't have the needed ability to do that any longer. No shame in getting old, and even if Andy gets fired during or at the end of this season, it won't diminish his great achievements.

I had sent Travis and Taylor what I thought was a very nice wedding gift of Super Bowl LIX, his and hers, commemorative football caps.
Yet no "thank you" note was received. Quite rude on their part.
honestly, at andy reids age and, uhhh, physical condition, i am surprised he is still able to perform as an NFL head coach. I cant imagine he has too many more seasons left in him to walk the sidelines.

Thinking Reid could even get fired from the Chiefs after what he’s accomplished and knowing the owners feelings towards him, it takes a nut job of Steve’s caliber to even think it’s possible. If his brain wanders off into la la land too many more times there’s going to be no bringing him back.
He’s already sulked for a month over losing $2.50 on a baseball bet, I’m afraid he’s got one foot in the looney bin already.

Also I recall after the Eagles throttled your Chiefs in the Super Bowl, you went MIA for months.
We shall see how it goes by the end of the season. Remember, he who laughs last, laughs best, and I stand by my prediction. But if I'm wrong, I won't hide under my bed as you did after your team, all things considered, suffered the worst performance in Super Bowl history.
BTW - if you truly believe that there is any loyalty between an aging head coach on the decline, and an NFL owner, then it's you that may want to consider checking-in. 😂
I’ve also taken a break after the Chiefs have won Super Bowls, if you think I was heartbroken over the Chiefs losing to the Eagles after they already won 3 of them with Mahomes then you are insane. I was over that in about a day and then ready for Royals baseball.
As far as posting before the game, go check the gambling thread and you’ll see I bet on KC to win I just didn’t hit the props. So don’t try to tell me I didn’t put my money where my mouth is. You cry about losing $2 the rest of us accept the fact that we’re going to lose bets and move on.
And yes there is loyalty between Clark Hunt and Reid as a ruthless business tycoon or whatever you are you wouldn’t know that.
When he leaves KC it would either be retirement or mutual agreement between management and him.
But it doesn’t matter even if he passed away during the season you would say he got fired first and then died.
And again you’re 0-1 starting off week two because the Colts aren’t beating the Chiefs.
NFL head coaches are hired to be fired. You should know that. If you don't, ask Bill Belichick.

BTW - I happen to like KC teams. The Phillies smoked the Royals in the 1980 World Series, and as mentioned, the Eagles smoked the Chiefs. Thanks for the two championships. LOL

I doubt if Darin realizes that Taylor Swift was born and raised in a town not that far from Philadelphia. Taylor has previously stated that she is an Eagles and Phillies fan. Of course she now primarily roots for the Chiefs since hubby plays for them.
After the divorce, she will quickly drop any allegiance to the Chiefs.
I just saw on the news today that Travis got sucked into a Ponzi scheme and lost a lot of money. I guess the Mrs. will be packing sack lunches for him for the time being.
I'd be sure that Taylor and him signed a prenup, keeping their business interests legally separate. Taylor is obviously a shrewd businesswoman, turning average singing talent into a multi-billion dollar entertainment empire.
I'd also be sure that she and Travis will soon be sitting down, and Taylor will firmly tell him, that from now on, she will handle all of their business dealings.

As long as Reid has Mahomes, he’s nothing to worry about. If Mahomes is washed up or retires, Reid could be like Belichick. Once Brady was gone, Belichick was doomed.
Everything clicked for the Chiefs last week including of course Walker, their new acquisition, who had an outstanding game. Chiefs fans are chirping like canaries right now, and should be.
However despite all that, the books didn't show the Chiefs much love, not moving them up all that much in the Super Bowl odds. Usually that's not a good sign.
We shall see what happens as the long season wears on. Mahomes knee has to hold up, Kelce is 36 years old with a lot of hits on that body, and Walker isn't going to rush for 173 yards every game. Andy will consume more doughnuts.
I agree with this. players are more important than coaches. look at reid before mahomes. good coach, couldnt ever win the big one. get a great QB, made all the difference!!

It’s not all about one guy. Reed has directed dozens of players to achieve his success and his assistants deserve plenty of credit too. Nobody coaches alone. Credit due to so many people who made him look good.
I don't disagree with ya on that. But we're talking about the highest coaching level in football, arguably if not definitely, the toughest coaching position in all of sports.
The old saying is "On any given Sunday" and we all know what that means. That being said, with a diminished Andy Reid, I think during this season, the Chiefs are going to lose games from lack of proper preparation, and poor decisions made during some games.
This Chiefs game today will be an interesting test. Walker isn't going to gain 173 yards again. Also, often when coming back from a bad injury, it's the second game that is very hard, as the pounding from the first game takes its toll, and the injured area reacts to that with swelling, etc. So we shall see how Mahomes performs. Also, "old man" Kelce, even though healthy, may experience the same effect, just from having a body that is old age for a tight end.
So it wouldn't surprise me if the Chiefs bounce off last week's game and get upset by, on paper, is an inferior team. If the Chiefs can overcome all this, well then my hats off to them.

Well it didn’t look like Coach Reid was unprepared, Mahomes threw for 382 with 3 TD’s, and Kelce had 101 yards and a score.
So surprisingly what Stevey wrote about a diminished Reid, Mahomes injury being all swelled up and Kelce being too old all appears to be false.
