Best of Mint 1804 Gold Dollar edge lettering

Anyone know how these coins were minted? Were the planchets struck on the edge first and later sent for separate striking to the obverse and reverse? Or was this somehow done with a single stroke? Wondering if the edge lettering may be both right side up or upside down? Photo courtesy of CoinNews.net.

Looks like the edge lettering was placed on via three-piece collar during striking.

one shot - there is a collar w edge lettering that the gold flows towards when pressed between the dies, iirc
Do these coins have “In God we trust,” on them? I thought it was required by law and thought it was on the edge.
its a restrike; wasn't on the original; wasn't used originally until 1864; not mandated til 1955
So, am I correct that these would have both A and B edge lettering, as the presidential dollars? Does that mean I need to ask the boss for a bonus to get the other edge lettering variety? 🤣
if it's a 3 piece collar, is it technically possible that there might be strikes w 2/3 of the edge letters one orientation and 1/3 the other orientation, or is this impossible with how it"s architected?
3 piece collar means single strike, same as prez $1 proof.
