July 4th privy (sold) prices for raw coins have backed off into the $175-$225 range on eBay. Expected as new supply comes online. I think we will see continued declines this week as the first wave of retail orders is delivered.

Superb collections are built more by omission than by addition.

Did any return to inventory this morning? I wasn't watching today.

I was wondering also -- I got stuck in the waiting room and didn't get in until 7:28

seems that - v generally - anything past that aug 5 / aug 7 date stamp range has significantly fewer privies

I went through them with my daughter pretty quickly, I don't recall any looking proof like in the moment and the lighting wasn't great, so I will err on the side of bad lighting.

Better to search bags for privies and then sell regular coins 4 for $20. This strategy has worked well for me!

The US Mint had these bags and rolls in stock at the Long Beach show this morning, no limit! Don't know how many they had in total, but saw many people buying cases of 25 or more at a time.

If it is the mint selling the wrapped/boxed rolls and bags, I would expect so. If it was bulk wrapping, probably not. I am guessing from the description that these are privy laden items. So... they could have fulfilled my pending backorder...

The "backorder" issue is one we tried to discuss a few days ago. We usually think of that status as meaning that more coins needed to be struck or more packaging needed to sourced. A potential third option that I suggested was that coins needed to be shipped down to the fulfillment center.

The mint doesn't ship coins to customers so if some or all are sitting at the mint, those aren't ready to be shipped to customers. Are those coins then marked as backordered?

The mint obviously held back a quantity to sell at the show. It certainly seems unfair. Maybe the rest are on a truck headed for Texas

That is absolutely disgusting for them to offer no limit while our orders placed within the first 30 minutes of opening Sale will not ship until October? What’s the deal? It makes no sense …. but then again who are we talking about. So, I am thinking that “backorder“ also does/did not mean truthfully sold out. Though they never said sold out, but this tells us something to add to this mystery. This is irritating and shady. IMHO

    OR….

Are these from the second batch of the 8000 that I heard a rumor were going to be released to the banks with no privy’s.

Did they advertise these as possibly having privys at the table or did anybody talk to them about it?

See my post above. It is possible (?) that the backordered coins are on their way to the fulfillment center while the coins the coins mint is selling at the show were held back for in-person sales.

It's a bad look for sure, but it's not necessarily a conspiracy.

I wish someone who is there would directly ask the mint representatives.

Went down to my LCS and picked up some tubes for the now loose dollars. I did ask them to make an offer on a 4th of July and they offered $50. They justified it as they are nervous about how quickly the quarter market fell off. I did not sell, but figured a data point is worth something.

They have not even fulfilled many of the processing orders. These should have been offered during the morning restock with the HHL still in place. It is totaly disgusting how the mint is handeling releases these days. After I buy the last rolls of Quarters to put away for the grand kids I am done with the mint. I have cancelled all my subscriptions.

Why? Why should they not set aside some for a show, just because the show opened today rather than last Wednesday?

Coin shows have nothing to do with morning restocks. These were set aside exactly the same as ABPP product.

Beyond that, it's not like the people staffing the shows, or the Mint store in DC, have anything to do with Mint operations or the fulfillment center. They know what they get. Period.

Not a conspiracy. If you want to look for them, look at what portion of hot issues go to ABPP. Setting aside new releases for sales at shows is a very longstanding practice.

Unlikely. The "hot" new release for that show will be Supergirl. They don't hold back sold out items for a month to sell at shows, given that there is almost always something new in the pipeline to introduce at the show. OTOH, you'll be able to buy as many EU Morgan and Peace Dollars as you want.

I never said I wanted to look for them or that I believed in them.

Clearly they bring new releases to coin shows. It's still bad optics to some people who are waiting for backorders, regardless of how reasonable it is.

They wouldn't know. They are retail employees. Not operation managers.

As far as "optics" go, it's also bad optics to have a 5 minute sell out while having people able to buy at shows for hours. It is what it is. Unlike ABPP, anyone who is motivated can go to a show, stand in line, and buy a hot coin.

I fell off the wagon on my addiction to shiny silver coins last year with the military privy ASEs. I believe the mint might have drove me to be sober this year.😁

My two rolls were finally shipped yesterday. I should be receiving them this Saturday. As far as the two bags, they're still on backorder.

Same, mine also charged and shipped.
Bags still back ordered. Order for bags placed 27 min after sale started.

Does anyone think that even though they’re giving us a date of October 7 that they might possibly ship soon? Has that ever happened before?
