The 1833 JR-1, PCGS-CAC MS62+ (R3), came to me via @Desert Moon a few months ago. The 1833 JR-2, PCGS-CAC MS62 (R4+), is a new acquisition via the Dave Perkins Sealed Bid Sale of the Jim Matthews dimes. Something good was happening in 1833! Anyway, I like the pretty girls and thought I'd share.

Unlike the OP’s pretty girls, mine lean more toward “plain janeish”:
Hmmmm, maybe there’s something to 1833’s being glam girls!

This thread has a great combo of wonderful color and grey dirt originality. I like both types.
@Bikergeek i really like that 62+. The fiery luster shows well in the photos. @Desert Moon finds some super coins!
Ah, @Copperindian those are sweet! I love the blueberry JR-6 especially.

The JR-2 is spectacular.
Wow, Sean, what a gorgeous addition to your Bust Dimes. Love the JR-2. Thanks for sharing.

I didn’t know you were “into” Capped Bust Dimes? Those three are real beauties. My fave is that 1831 MS65!

Hello everyone. I love Capped Bust dimes threads! You woke me up.
David Perkins did a great job auctioning off Jim Mathews CBD collection. Sorry, I don't have a picture to share but the one I really wanted and won is the 1833 JR-7. Its a rarity 4+ and very scarce and this one is most likely in the top 3 for the variety. Besides being quite scarce, it carries a cool provenance - Ex Buddy Ebsen, Bill Subjack, Russ Logan, Joe O'Donnell and Jim Matthews. Its a who-who for Early dimes.
Nice Sean, I put in strong bids on 7 of Jim's bust dimes, was blown out of the water, including your 1833........ The coin market continues to be red hot in pricing high quality examples.........................
Would've been some great additions to your already fabulous inventory..... I absolutely love browsing your coins, keep up the hunt and the good work 😎

Congrats, Barry! I bid on that one too, but with finite resources to work with I didn't go hard. On my website, I have a feature called Set List - All JR Dime Varieties. Click to go to the '33 JR-7 and folks can see pics of your coin. These Jim Matthews set pics, taken by Steve Herrman, are on my site with permission of the Newman Numismatic Portal. (When there are multiple coins in the gallery for a specific marriage, you can scroll right to see other instances).

A pretty cameo Proof 66+
Awesome coins Sean! Love to see the King of Capped Bust half dimes moving into “cousin” territory.
nearly everyone who viewed the dimes in person at the show took the time to examine the coin you won ...and I saw you beat out seven other bidders. Congrats!
Very, VERY nice👍
Love the looks of the Jr 1, nice coins 🪙
Thanks Sean.
Its getting more and more difficult finding a CBD for my set so whenever one comes up that I desire, I tend to bid somewhat stronger. Congrats to everyone that acquire one of Jim's precious dimes!
