I really don't understand why they are getting so many returns. Sales figures show 298,000+ sold through Sunday. Why are people returning sets that routinely sell for $40 to $50 more than cost? I'm really kind of shocked that these keep popping up.
I got my latest set of 99 on Tuesday of this week and sold them all by 5 pm on Thursday. That includes 1 guy who bought 32 at $157 each. I had two inquiries after I sold out as to whether I would have more. They have been HOT and yet they keep getting returned to the Mint. It's very strange...

I have to keep telling myself I dont collect Unc sets, nor cents. And its $124.50 ... I've given the US Mint plenty of my $$$$ this year (1 or 2 more to go).
Like the 2019 W cents I got, I'd probably send the 2026 P,D cents in for grading, not sure its worth it.
I still have the S cent from the silver proof set (but I dont crack those open).

Maybe the mint is making more of them and not updating the mintage totals.
All they would have to do is change the 480,000 to a 580,000 and update the sales record

Just opened the set I recently ordered and wow the ones from Denver are /far/ superior to the Philly ones - Denver versions are almost PL and the Philly versions look flatter and duller - not used to seeing that

Yes. I considered it. But, that was a long time ago. Lol. At the time, I only had 80 or 90 sets. Then I suddenly got 225 more and i decided to take the $20 per set rather than spend several thousand more dollars to get them graded and hope the price holds up.
The prices have weakened. But, they have surprised even me by staying at $160ish after the Mint sold another almost 30,000 sets.

That's about right, but it's very hard to sell certain of the coins. You can't simply add up all the coins and call that the set value. You will sell out of the cents quickly at around $150. No. I don't think you will sell them all in the $40s, at least not quickly, if at all. They are all coins that can be gotten in rolls.
You can try and count them on eBay. The number of sold cents far outnumber the partial sets when I search.

Out of 27 coins, only one coins came back less than 67. Super thrilled to get the MS69 Cent! 4 69's total. Lots of 68s. Phenomenal.
Still, I think it's remarkable that 27 coins get graded and not a single one gets a +.

I'm going to just throw this up there for information because I've NEVER seen this before from the Mint.
As you may know, I ended up buying more than 600 of the Uncirculated sets. The first 400 looked perfect when they arrived with only the occasional edge ding on the boxes, which is normal for shipping.
Now, we all know that they will sell returns once they have been inspected. What I have NEVER seen in 30 years of doing this, is their selling boxes that have been TAPED BACK TOGETHER. [I had a humorous thread about these, but PCGS deleted it. Odd.] These were obviously returns. The coins were actually fine. Although I will note that the cents had a fair amount of die polish which might be why people returned them and one of the sets had a quarter that had moved into its neighbors hole. But in the last group of 150 sets, I actually had SEVENTEEN (17) of these taped together sets.
I couldn't sell them as sets - they looked horrible - so I cut the cents out and have been selling them singly. I've actually sold 5 pairs of cents at $139 each and I'm only selling the sets at $155. FWIW.
Very unusual behavior for the Mint. They usually would have reboxed them. Some of the sets could have had the flap glued back down and no one would have known. But they taped them back together.
