I SOOO agree! I thought this as soon as I saw the images posted by the Mint. I will really distract from the 1907 as well. Such a bummer.

Incredibly, the Liberty Bell medal has held far more than I ever thought. This may be the best looking medal yet. The end market for the Liberty at the current price just astonishes me.

Yeah. People also said that about the FH silver medal privies, when the first imaged were published on the Mint's website, and people thought they would all have them. When people learned they were were limited and valuable, all of a sudden they got over the distraction.

I hear you, and the drop in gold market price really isn't the deciding factor, for me, it is just an added incentive.
I'm just not in love with the design and feels like the bust should be slightly over the left..it looks off center.
And for such a high premium, I was expecting it to sell out...demand is low, so its ability to hold it's value and possibly appreciate in the medium term future is not promsing. So I would rather just put my funds through some lower premium gold collectibles, including the Gaudens....(if my acct is not suspended by then for the return(s).
Well I'll just use a new acct and address if that happens, but hope it is not the case.
keep the coin if you like it. There's a reason you bought it in the first place, unless you were just trying to flip it anyways. The gold spot price changes only swing the Mint's prices by $50 per bracket, so it's not life changing. plus, I personally would get this coin graded if i bought it, so that I can maximize my money if/when i need to sell it.

But as I pointed out above, why not upgrade the service on the medal? I believe the difference is $48 (assuming you want a TV), but processing a medal in an order by itself will cost at least $37 extra for the shipping and handling. Why not spring for the extra $11 and get them graded and shipped at the same time with sequential cert numbers?

There must be a reason you think your coin is in the 68/69 grade range.
If you feel certain the grade will be a 69 max, there is absolutely no reason to send it in for grading.

I agree. If it's defective return it and get one that's not. You're paying good money for it. Especially when there are plenty available to replace it with.

I think the slight marks that are discoloration are OK. If the specs are nicks that reflect light, then definitely a 69. What you need to do is shine a light at a low angle and from all sides and looks for actual nicks. You might be OK based on what I see.

I had the same problem on the Constitution Quarder roll set. I read that some on CoinNews got a problem notice e-mail from the US Mint. I thought I should check my e-mail too. I also tried to say my order number, but the automated system didn't recognize it 3 or 4 time. I gave up and asked for an agent. Several more people reported credit card problems. I think it is wise to check your e-mail and SPAM folder about an hour after your confirmation e-mail

But, my wife likes it & my son thinks its cool that we got it together, so it will stay. Zero expectations of any appreciation beyond an increase in gold.
