Coming September 24, 2026, right at the end of the Mint’s fiscal year. Is anyone hoping to still obtain the full set? Or are you making a choice between this final coin in the Best of the Mint series and the 1804?

This year has been WAY too expensive. I'll have to get one - sadly. I wish that I could just not.
I've skipped 2 and 3.
I'll likely end up with 1, 4 &5
My goal is to do a box of 20; the 5 BoM issues + medals and the Proof Set.
I will (hopefully) get both of the big gold coins. Reading the various updates here has had my confidence in their potential availability on a rollercoaster ride.

Since I collect the AGE I am in for this 1. As of now I am going to dig deep and try for the 1804 - but its gonna sting. If I dont get that I may be OK (unlike the V75 AGE, waaaahhh :'( - heheh, I'll get over it ... some day).
I did not like the medals on the merc dime (very "Wonder Woman" ish, and I got that silver medal) nor the 50c (especially that, Tae Chi???). This 1 is OK tho.
I’m going to try. Could go either way, as there are two schools of thought running about. Let’s just hope it costs enough that the buyer’s clubs stay away.
1,2, and 3 are ok. 4 and 5 are absolute must haves. I don’t mind the cost as long as it helps the individual collectors by keeping the flippers away.
I was fortunate to get the FH gold. Having all 3 of them is the goal.
Boom...we win.
Mintage numbers have been posted for BOM 5 today (as well as pricing for BOM 4)

That is a cool set!
Is the dimension of this coin closer to 2009 ultra high relief or is it closer to 1907 high relief? I find the 2009 ultra high relief to be too small.
So agree w that!
The coin and the original packaging is beautiful , but it is absolutely too small.
I wish they would have just made it.Look exactly like the real one.
2009 was 27mm and this one will be 30.61mm. Still smaller than the OG which was 34mm
No idea why they don't make it the same as the original.
They probably could if they really wanted to but the original is 33.4 g of 90% gold whereas the new one is 31.1g of 99.99% gold.
That (very roughly) 10% weight difference likely explains the (very roughly) 10% smaller size. I guess they chose not to make it much thinner to keep the high relief.

At one troy ounce and a specified 30.61mm they can make the new piece be slightly deeper relief than it might otherwise have. If the intent is to have a "high relief" coin then this smaller diameter would accommodate the depth more easily.

Create point , but I certainly would have preferred just to duplicate the original in size even if the composition is different. Most collectors probably feel the same way I would guess.
Last one….just 26 days away. Anyone changing their mind after watching BOM 4 sales?
As I mentioned in passing, I have had varying levels of anxiety regarding BOM4 availability. I was very happy to be able to buy one without stress and I'm really looking forward to receiving it Monday. I can't wait for BOM5 and am excited to see the whole group all together.

I’m still hoping to put the whole set together. One to go. Hopefully the sale happens the same way #4 went.
Agreed. Here is how a portion of my spreadsheet looks....only one more ✅ to go!

There’s a decent number of us striving for that full set. Haven’t seen anyone trying it to have been skunked yet.
I'm very much leaning against it, just to do cost. Also, the BOM 4 medal is so beautiful that it's brining enough value to make the purchase price of the set closer to spot gold. I don't like the BOM 5 medal much. I don't think that it will be nearly so sought after.
As noted in another thread, I'll be going to the DC store when BOM 5 goes on sale. I'm sure that it will be out in the display case well before noon, as was the case for BOM 4. They were happy to take it out of the case for me to see and photo before noon. I'll do the same for BOM 5 so you guys can really see what it looks like before making a buying decision at noon.
Got the 4, thankfully. Not hot on the 5 or the medal. 2009 was enough of the design repeat for me. I don't think anyone will have any issue getting the 5. It's a beautiful coin and I look forward to pics of it.
I'm leaning against 5. I'll take a look.
I wish it and the UHR were essentially duplicates of the original
If I ever just dump most all of my moderns, the one thing I'll buy coin wise is a nice actual HR.
.
I'm thinking seriously about attempting to get one of these upon release. The only BOM I have purchased thus far is the 1804 and I think this would make a nice pair.

My concern is that since the 1804 is now 2nd market (at least for now), that the demand for the Saint could possibly increase. Clubs/bots might make a run on the Saint if the 2nd market for the 1804 proves short-term profitable. Still a ways to go, but have to watch the spot price as well.
Boom...we win.
Because the original did not contain one ounce of gold. And because it was not high relief. 2009 was ultra high relief, which is why it is smaller.
I know. I'm just saying I believe they should have made it the same as the original same metal content same size. I think it would have been so much nicer.
I guess you're entitled to your opinion. But these are meant to be semiquincentennial tributes, not 2026 restrikes.
Absolutely true. No question.
I, personally, would have loved re-strikes. I remember when I first saw the 2009 UHR. I thought, "man, is that small!"
I do love the UHR in the OGP. I also think it's the nicest OGP of modern times, possibly since the Pan-Pacs.
I’d include the Flowing Hair to this list.
That would be a nice companion piece however my goal was to create a box of 20 semi-quincentennial issues and this works out perfectly. I could see swapping out the cent or Sacagawea for a flowing hair at some point though.

The original had .97 oz of gold in it and a few grams of copper. Not enough to make a difference. The story at the time was that St. Gaudens designed it with an ultra-high relief strike in mind, but it was too difficult to do with 1907 technology. They made it smaller (piedfort?) so they could make the relief deeper. Personally, I would have rather they make a heavier coin with the same diameter of the original. But that's just me.
Totally agree!
This whole BOM series has been such a disappointment, on multiple levels. But have to go for the Gaudens, unless they somehow jack up the premium significantly higher.
I love my 2009 UHR and probably skip this 250th Roman Numeral HR.
Is she smirking at us?
I am interested in buying just the medal if anyone wants to sell me theirs to reduce the cost of the gold coin.
The fun thing for the gold collectors is that you have to get both Position A and Position B to have the complete set with that edge lettering.
I really wish this release would be the same diameter as the original classic Gaudens double eagle, but sounds like it's a good bit smaller.
Next up on the product schedule is this one BOM 5. Not much left on the schedule now (excluding all the Superhero offerings.....I think it leaves 6 items with a little less than 4 months to go.)
It's early but they loaded ATS 15,000.
Late next week it will be reduced by whatever the ABPP will have offered to them. They started with 15,000 early on with BOM4, with several adjustments in the two weeks prior to drop.
As noted, I'll send you guys pics from the Mint store before noon so that you can have a better idea of what they actually look like. I'm not buying unless they're just amazing looking. Being smaller than the original and with the privy that so detracts from the design it will be a tough sell. But, we'll see.
Plus, most of us already have the 2009 UHR - talk about way too small.
Obviously, these will be available for a long time.
Maybe a late edition will pop up soon.
I think there was a HUGE missed opportunity with the Best of the Mint series to not do a 1926 Oregon Trail Memorial half dollar. It's the most beautiful commemorative coin and the 100th anniversary of the series.
Honestly the 1907 High Relief and Ultra High Relief, I am not against the mint doing restrikes of them in perpetuity and in other sizes like 1, 2 or 5 oz with the date 1907 like the perpetually dated 1780 Maria Theresa Thalers or presidential medals. They can even do medal turn to readily distinguish from the originals
that would've been super cool
oh. never thought of a commem. the OT would be great
Agree!!
