I just had a package shipped from Ohio. It was scheduled to arrive tomorrow, Monday. It was in North Carolina. Today I got notice that they had shipped it back to Columbus, Ohio.
When you ship something back and forth for no reason, do you have to wonder why you are running out of money?

Packages aren't shipped to their destinations individually, one at a time. They go as part of a group and sometimes it's more efficient to route them in a way other than a straight line.

What i said was the short version of the following. Some i don't know the reason, i couldn't be more specific. Since he hasn't received the package yet, he could know whether, for example, there was an address error or something of that kind. I once had a package bounced back to a hub 3 times. When I inquired, they told me there was a bar code reading issue and it needed to be corrected to get the correct final routing.

It might take a month, but at least your package would go straight to you without any detours.

I've posted the solution to this particular problem (not understanding why the post office is routing your package as they've chosen to do) before. Here it is again:
Stop checking the online tracking.
Either you've received your package or you haven't. If you have, the online tracking is irrelevant. If you haven't, the post office is going to do whatever it is they do, regardless of what you think they should, and your package will arrive when the post office delivers it. So, again, the tracking is irrelevant.
"But I need to be here to pick it up/sign for it/whatever." Ok. But the post office doesn't guarantee delivery dates. What are you going to do once you've ordered something for delivery? Sit at home on the front porch until the carrier brings it? Of course not. So stop checking the tracking and get on with your life.

Yes, that's true. My comment was based on the typical package handled by the post office. Express Mail is a tiny fraction of that overall total, and I did not allow for that in my response.

I wonder how much longer that will be the case. I've gotten a refund for late Express Mail packages the last 12-15 consecutive times I've shipped one. It's gotten to the point where it's almost cheaper to use Express over Priority or even Ground Advantage to ship.
