The ATS flipped this morning to: 28207, so they're going to try for the full 30,000 it seems. Yesterday was around 5565, but the "in stock date is October 1" so I would imagine that they flip to back order pretty quickly IF and only IF they move the 5565 tomorrow. This one has very little interest, and attention has already moved to BOM4 and its 15,000 mintage.

Its only a day away, you'd think they'd post the price already.
(And they probably will within a short time after my post - heh.)

Figures that gold popped today. I’m looking to get all five BOM’s, but I might not be able to jump on at noon. Sounds like this won’t be an issue. Like almost everyone, I’m gunning for4 & 5

Tonorrow won’t be an issue at all. You could even wait for a potential drop in gold to catch this one.

Am I reading the grid correctly? Is this price more closely in line with the $4050 close (Kitco) from 8/3 than the current 8/5 $4250+- spot?

    No. It is neither.

I understand that, I realize they don't base it off of Kitco, but when I look at the grid, the pricing is much loser to the $4050 close Kitco shows for 8/3 than today's, currently $200 higher current price. I'm just trying to decide if it is better to pull the trigger tomorrow, or hope for a possible drop by next Wednesday.

You didn't read the link i provided. It's an average. It's not a single day. If the gold price stays the same this week, the price will be higher next week.

That’s correct. They use an average. Today’s jump really didn’t affect the average, but if it retains this level or jumps, the price will be a level or two higher.

Ahhhh….but look at it this way, if you tank gold by buying this, you could be helping us all out by bringing down the price of BOM4. So I’ll see you at the door of the waiting room??

If you buy this and gold stays the same, you could still be $500 under water. A couple hundred dollar swing in the price of gold should not matter to the decision to buy this coin.

There was enough suspicious activity with the waiting room that I seriously considered not buying this coin and waiting until after I had successfully purchased the 1804 silver dollar gold coin to buy today's Walking Liberty gold coin. I am going to be terribly upset if I am unable to buy the 1804 silver dollar gold coin later this month.

Because of the Mint's poorly designed web site, I don't see how I can complete a purchase in under a minute. It doesn't allow me to stay logged on hours before coin availability before timing out so I have to log in using the special link for user names that are not an e-mail address and at check out, I have to enter the credit card verification code. I can only hope there are no flippers or that they end up eating it when people refuse to pay the mark-up.

If I do not manage to snag an 1804 silver dollar gold coin, I will not buy in the secondary market.

I was happy for that. I was at work, desktop and phone signed in and ready. 'This product goes on sale in 9 minutes" At about the 5 minute point my boss started a conversation with me. The desk top was in another room, and I couldn't be ignoring him for my phone. 2 minutes after on sale I was able to get back to it. "Waiting room approximately 13 minutes" a minute or so later and I was in and out. I hope there is a solution for 4 and 5 that doesn't let bots block everyone out and those that want the set have a chance.

Order was easy enough. My CC asked me to verify the purchase, havent seen that in a long while. Dscv just switched over to Capital One, so - shrug. I see it as pending so should be good I think.

The quarter is still available, so should not be a problem to grab it later.

Pretty sure the idea is to punish the person who boxed them out at the Mint, who only bought it to sell to them at a markup. I do the very same thing. I truly enjoy the things I buy from the Mint, but, believe it or not, have managed to live a meaningful productive life without owning anything that I was unable to source directly from the Mint upon release.

I buy classics from dealers and auction houses, but have not once, ever, other than when I was a kid and back filled some proof sets, bought any modern anything on the secondary market. That is fine for flippers, and for people who cannot live without things they were denied by a flipper from buying from the source, but I have never felt a need to reward that.

TBD. We are all worked up here, but interest in the series is certainly waning.

It's worth keeping in mind that every set not sold today is a set that will that not will be needing BOM4 and 5 to complete a series. Earlier in the thread, I stated why 15K at $5K+ (more like $5500+ based on today's price) might not be the slam dunk people are thinking it will be, based on where 10K 2024 FH golds sell for today.

Remember, the frenzy, when there is one, is caused by bots and human flippers. Not actual collectors. If there is no meaningful flip, and there might not be, there won't be a frenzy. Many expected one for BOM1, and it didn't develop. Each subsequent release has seen lower and lower sales.

No doubt there will be more interest in BOM4 than BOM3. But the price will be double, and BOM3 might not even hit 15K in sales. So, we'll see.

To add more detail, I probably would buy on the secondary market if it were a $100 - $200 premium to the price the Mint was charging. Anything above that and I am out and I am saving my wallet from punishment. The coin is something that I would like to have but do not need to have. I dislike the dynamics of this flipping market and will not contribute to it. I don't know what the real demand (buyer is not buying for immediate resale and intends to hold it for years) is for new issue coins such as this and if it's equal to or greater than 15,000, so be it, I missed out. However, if true demand is less than 15,000, I will not participate in this tomfoolery and will wait until the price falls to roughly the price at issuance or at the melt price, if that ever occurs.

In the case of false demand, the only way to end this kind of nonsense is to not participate and let the punters lose money. Life will go on for me and I'll move on and forget about it soon enough. :)

Well thought out! Thank you. With the advancing price of gold, we (those who want all 5) may have that in our favor.

The full set of 5 buyers looks to be a smaller group than originally thought. This one isn’t setting the world on fire, as you noted before. (5,100 sold after 50 minutes of sales.)

Yes. I have some ideas how I might be able to slightly improve my odds of getting a coin without using a bot. I have two or three weeks to plan things out and get a little bit of practice. :)

I would have thought that the price for one troy ounce of gold would be a deterrent. The price (and the unappealing design, IMO) of the Liberty Bell gold coins certain did an excellent job of repelling buyers and even flippers.

They still loved those Silver Bells, and I think that's what exacerbated the waiting room debacle over the last 3+ weeks. It seems to have quieted dramatically now after they sold out completely.

We have yet to see what the price of gold does to demand for the BOM4, but it won't be much longer.

They still loved those Silver Bells, and I think that's what exacerbated the waiting room debacle over the last 3+ weeks. It seems to have quieted dramatically now after they sold out completely.

We have yet to see what the price of gold does to demand for the BOM4, but it won't be much longer.

The silver Liberty Bell coins probably sold as well as they did due to the small mintage (roughly 13% of the expected mintage of the 1803 silver dollar gold coin) and the somewhat affordable though still insane price of $750 (15% of the cost of the upcoming gold coin).

For the 1803 silver dollar gold coin, buyers will have to pony up about 7x the money for a coin with almost 8x the mintage of the Liberty Bell silver coin. I hope that deters the flippers. :)

Mine has shipped already. Probably the fastest I've ever had an order ship from the mint... c'mon Hollis card...

After seeing your post, I went and checked mine and it has shipped as well with tracking number assigned. All in under 2 1/2 hours from order. In the past, I have chosen next day shipping and not had it ship until Friday or the Monday that followed. (went with standard 1-2 week option for this one)

I'm right there with you. If I am lucky enough to get BOM 4 and 5, I just hope to end up with a Hollis card in one of these.

I got one with the first set, didn't on the second. We've got a good shot with this one. I'm sure they are in a hurry to get those 250 cards out the door, and with only 5000+ sold today they'll probably mix them in with those.

I'm not sure who you are punishing by not buying one on the secondary market, but YOU GO GIRL!

It's not punishing anyone, especially if the price is reasonable. If it's super hot, it'll hold value. If it's not, you can probably buy it at issue price down the line. Either way, the secondary market doesn't care who buys it, so you are only denying yourself a coin that you want.

It's about price, not whether you're in the primary or secondary market.

That math is completely irrelevant. The only thing flippers care about is if there is a secondary market. If the demand for these is 10x the demand of the silver at only 7x the mintage, then it will be even harder to get.

Ecen is there is LESS demand for this coin, but if there is an item bid a couple hundred bucks above issue price, all the flippers will jump on it.
