I haven’t bought one of these since the CSNS show back in April. This is a nice “pq” example of an “available” date. It’s very lustrous when tilted about under the light & shows some light russet & blue gray toning around the edges. Patina is undisturbed, attesting to the coin’s natural look.

Nice semi-key 1927-S SLQ I picked out of some junk silver for $11. This is the first addition I've found for my junk silver SLQ album in around a year
I know for a fact someone else had just rifled thru the lot not too long before me. I'm surprised he didn't catch this coin
More SLQ upgrading. I have been frustrated by the difficulty in finding MS 63 or MS64 examples that had decent heads (I'm not willing to pay the exhorbitant premium for "FH," especially since a lot of so-called "FH" examples are just barely "FH"; but I'm not interested in flat heads or heads with no detail). This one was up on GC last Sunday; I find its head "just barely not FH," so I grabbed it. I don't have a lot of high-value MS65 coins, since I'm generally not willing to pay for them; but this one shows me the allure of them; they're just prettier than MS63.
My latest, greatest pickup from a group of Buffalo Nickels I paid 65 cents each. 1936 D 3 1/2 leg.

My newest purchase (from EBay) arrived today. I am very happy with this acquisition.
All five coins are gorgeous and IMO would all grade at least PF65. The nickel has multicolored toning on both sides that does not show up in the photo. The nickel is also the RED FS-403 Variety. The cent has frosted devices and mirrored fields. The half dollar, under the light haze has mirrored fields and fully frosted devices on both sides, including the sun and the sun's rays.
Standing Liberty quarters are really gorgeous, I think, when well struck and not very circulated.
The trick, in addition to finding enough money to buy these very expensive (for modern US non-gold coins), is to get one with a head that doesn't resemble a shovel. Most of these things have horribly struck heads.
As a reaction, I suppose, TPGs now attribute "full head" status when the head shows all the necessary attributes. Of course, that means that some somewhat imperfect heads are just good enough to get the coveted "FH" designation, while others, virtually indistinguishable from the just-barely-full head, are denied it.
And "FH" results in a huge markup in price/value, all else being equal.
So, for me, that means being patient, and finding the "not-quite-full head" examples; they cost a fraction of what "just-barely-full head" costs, and they look substantially identical.
After a long search, I snagged this one. I'm pleased. It has remarkable luster, and what looks like a die crack on the eagle's left wing adds a bit of character.

I don’t remember if I posted this but this is a relatively recent pickup. The coin looks crustier in hand and it’s a relatively tough date.

I did the same set several years ago except I also added the 1916 McKinley gold dollar. These were the last circulation gold coins issued for a few years until after the end of WWI when the 1920 Saint G$20 and the 1920-S Indian G$10 was issued. Very cool set.

From a graded 2018-S Silver Reverse Proof Set picked up at a local estate auction house.
Checks all the boxes for my tastes and interests. The OGH is the icing.

I’ll probably work up an ANA report later in the week. I could only make yesterday but had an awesome time and picked up some really cool stuff.
Got these coming from NEN. I swapped one of my coins plus a modest amount of cash for five of theirs. More on that later, perhaps.
