THIS WEEKEND'S "SHOW AND SHINE" - ALASKA'S LARGEST CAR SHOW

Prior to World War II Anchorage Alaska's Park Strip, located in today's downtown, was an airfield and landing strip for airplanes. In times past airplanes would be parked on it.

Now each year in August one can find hundreds of antique, classic and custom cars and trucks parked on the same Park Strip as entrants in "Show and Shine," Alaska's largest car show.

This year the Anchorage Midtown Rotary Club supported the car show by providing food and drinks with the proceeds going to support the Rotary Club's varied service proper]ects. The projects extend from providing scholarships to local Scouts to assisting students in Latin America to continue with their education.

In this below linked video playlist observe the Anchorage Midtown Rotary Club's participation at the car show followed by a "parade" of the antique, classic and custom cars nd trucks featured at "Show and Shine" which is held annually on the first weekend of August.

The videos in the playlist are accompanied by music from the era of many of the participating cars and trucks when they once ruled the road and the subject songs concurrently ruled the airwaves.

That's a tribute to those Austrian bimetallic Euro coins with the colorful Niobium centers.

I noticed that too, and initially thought the AI had cut it off. (It did trim a little bit off.) But it also kind of looks like that on the original source design, if you click on @asheland ‘s profile and look at the larger avatar pic. The right foreleg is not very visible.
