PIONEER DAY TODAY IN SALT LAKE CITY - THE ANNUAL JULY 24th PIONEER DAY PARADE THAT ORIGINATED IN 1849
The Utah Pioneers arrived in Salt Lake Valley on the 24th of July 1847. Two years later on July 24th of 1849 a Parade was held in Salt Lake City to honor those first Pioneers and eventually Utah acknowledged the date as Pioneer Day making it a State Holiday.
Every year thereafter a July 24th Pioneers Day parade has been held excepting for some war years and COVID.
In this slow linked bvideo playlist see parade entrants with their decorated vehicles at the beginning of the parade route with The Salt Lake Temple predominantly seen. The temple itself is a monument to those same pioneers as they sacrificed to build

Included is also a video filmed at the finish of the parade route in Liberty Park where paraders and spectators are treated to a special reward.
