PIONEER DAY TODAY IN SALT LAKE CITY - THE ANNUAL JULY 24th PIONEER DAY PARADE THAT ORIGINATED IN 1849

The Utah Pioneers arrived in Salt Lake Valley on the 24th of July 1847. Two years later on July 24th of 1849 a Parade was held in Salt Lake City to honor those first Pioneers and eventually Utah acknowledged the date as Pioneer Day making it a State Holiday.

Every year thereafter a July 24th Pioneers Day parade has been held excepting for some war years and COVID.
