ANCHORAGE ALASKA'S FIRST EVER HEAT ADVISORY COINCIDES WITH BEACHGOERS FLOCKING TO JEWEL LAKE BEACH PARK FOR FUN IN THE SUN, AS THE CITY GETS LESS THAN 20 DAYS A YEAR WITH TEMPERATURES REACHING 70 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT
"Here Comes the Sun" in Anchorage Alaska as the city's first ever "Heat Advisory" went out warning of temperatures ranging from the low to high 70s.
The below linked music videos in this Video Playlist were filmed yesterday, on the first day of August, at Anchorage's Jewel Lake Beach Park. They feature as the musical accompaniment, what else than, the Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun."
The first video focuses on the fun in the sun on the land and the other on the fun in the sun on the water.
A bonus at Jewel Lake Beach Park is its no charge to ride Zip Line which is seen at the beginning of the land based video.
The water based video begins with a reminder that for most of the year Jewel Lake's water is surfaced with ice.
Jewel Lake has the best ice fishing in Anchorage and is home to the city's major ice fishing event, The Annual Jewel Lake Jamboree that kicks off the festivities of Anchorage's winter carnival, The Fur Rendezvous.
Jewel Lake also has the distinction of being a major Hollywood movie set for an Arctic Ocean in the Drew Barrymore film, "Big Miracle." The opening scene of the movie features a whale hunt on Jewel Lake's waters as fog machines obscure its surrounding trees.
