When I type "usmint" into my Google search bar, first it verifies I am not a bot, then second, because of how I saved this link Google adds some additional directions and rather than sending to the mint's home page, it directly sends me to the cumulative sales page--no waiting room involved. From here I can directly go "shop" and to "commemorative coins" (because this is my interest), again with no waiting room. Maybe if you directly link to a page such as the cumulative sales page, you can get into the mint's site with the waiting room? Or maybe I just hit a time when there was no waiting room...

I've linked to the ATS page directly and I get the waiting room sometimes even for that.

Same here. I get the waiting room for the ATS page. I’m not sure there’s any way around a waiting room if one is in force.

There isn't, because it's blocking access to the entire site, not to any specific page within it. Hopefully the Mint will identify a fix for this. Otherwise, the site is going to become increasing unusable for legitimate users.

    Agreed.
Since your login gets timed out, it'd be nice to at least link to the main page and / or your account page w/o triggering the waiting room. Then you can refresh that page to keep your login session alive while waiting to acquire the item the waiting room is targeting at that time.

The wish list page does not throw you into a waiting room when you refresh it.

If the recent issues have been bots scanning for that silver liberty bell all damned day, then NOW is the time for them to work on a fix. It’s frustrating the casual user and turning them off, and simply annoying the rest of us.

It's more than annoying. If you can't get in, it's not food, water or shelter.

At some point some people will just decide they don't need to deal with it. If that happens, it will be quite the unintended consequence of what they tried to do with very expensive Liberty Bells.

With any luck, maybe this will push them to take my suggestion regarding early order windows for preferred customers, based on past purchase volume. That would destroy rando bot access to hot new releases, and would end this once and for all, since anything like the bells in the future would be long gone before the public order window opened.

I like the plan. I may not qualify as preferred based on amounts spent, but I would assume I would get credit for having a mint account for 35 years. Any credit for length of time?

No. It's not an original idea. It's what the Canadian and Perth Mints do.

It's like a frequent flyer program. Status resets annually based on prior year activity. No credit for account length. It's meant to incentivize continuing activity, and the extent of early access depends on your tier.

    I don't think that's what he's saying.

He seems to want to bypass the waiting room by getting in before the release and then prolonging the 10 minute timer. That would defeat the entire purpose of the waiting room. Everyone would just log in the day before and wait. (Unless he's saying something other than that. )

If that's what he was suggesting, then yes, it's unworkable. The 10 minute time limit is what it is, regardless of what you're doing on the site.

Not sure, since I lost whatever status I had during COVID, so I'm not at the front of any lines any longer. But, yeah, this, plus Canada charging sales tax, has caused me to discontinue buying anything from them, since the only things now available to me are things that don't sell out after 3 early purchase windows.

Which is fine. They are rewarding their best customers, and it's open to everyone. This would actually be great for people like you.

But the real beauty is that it would totally kill bots, because electronic tools would no longer be the key to success. This rewards sustained purchases over time. And, other than maybe things with a mintage of 2K, you'd be able to take your time ordering over a day or two, so there would be no need to hit the site at exactly noon on any given day.

Because, at the top tiers, relatively few individuals would qualify, as compared to the thousands, tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of items offered. The top tier at Perth starts at $35K USD, with the next one down at $7K, then $3,500 and $700.

Since the US Mint is far more popular, and pretty much everything is stupidly expensive nowadays, I'd assume the tiers would be set at far higher purchase amounts. But that would have to be determined by the Mint, based on whatever data they have regarding how many accounts fall within whatever thresholds they would want to establish to modulate traffic.

So, as you can see, real rewards at the top at Perth. The top 2 tiers get a 7 day early order window, with 5 days for the next one, and then 1 day at the bottom. Anything really good is long gone by public release, while people spending at least $7K per year get a 2 day jump on most people. So no bots, because there is nothing to chase if you are not a long term buyer.

I was commenting more about the idea of targeting a specific page for the waiting room. But not with the intent to bypass it.
I dont want to have to sit in a waiting room to login to my account - nor to keep it active / NOT time out.
    BUT ...
yes, once I would link to the page to attempt to order the key item, yup - then I'd hit the waiting room.

My 35 year loyalty to mint purchases should be more valuable than someone buying one 1 oz liberty bell
gold item in a year. My 35 years of proof sets and eagles and buffaloes do not add up to one gold liberty bell but I don’t flip and I buy what I enjoy.

Yes, you get credit for good behavior, so they'll give 30-45 seconds off your 57 minute clock. ;)

Flippers must love being at the front of the line

My 35 year loyalty to mint purchases should be more valuable than someone buying one 1 oz liberty gold item in a year. My 35 years of proof sets and eagles and buffaloes do not add up to one gold liberty bell but I don’t flip and I buy what I enjoy.

Actually, no. Remember -- no one has done anything, and this is just a suggestion, based on what other world mints are doing.

That said, it's all about what have you done for them lately. Not so much the $10 proof sets you bought in 1990.

Not to mention, a single gold coin probably wouldn't get you far, based on how many people have that level of spend in a year. So don't get too excited, because, if they actually did something like this, you'd likely need far more than $10K in annual spend to get guaranteed access to truly hot new items.

I'd think $20-30K. This would be about rewarding their best customers. Not merely "customers," since that would be all of us, and would accomplish nothing.

And, for the record, the people who actually spent $20K on a single gold Liberty Bell are far more profitable to the Mint than people buying 100 Congratulations sets to get to the same level of spend. So there's that. In any event, trust me, if they implement something like this, it will be based on current spend, on a rolling basis, not the age of the account.

You bet! Similar to how the free shipping resets every January 1. You’d need to have a 2026 buying spree to keep in their good graces.

Cloudflare claims to provide the following, go figure.

Security Services DDoS Protection: Shields web properties from massive traffic floods and volumetric attacks.

Web Application Firewall (WAF): Blocks common web exploits, malicious bots, and SQL injections.

And it does. You cannot get in, but the bots do not bring down the website. That's the idea.

Just be glad that they don't play elevator music, which would of course jump back and forth wildly based upon the way the timer jumps.

(Which, as we have heard from others here, they fail at that promise from time to time, requiring a phone call to get a shipping refund.)

Well, oddly, I was able to get in this morning at 7:33 am EST. I was able to buy one roll set of the Declaration quarters and saw Silver Proof sets (still there) along with Uncirculated sets and the American innovation Minnesota rolls and bags made a return after the sellout yesterday.

Data from Cloudflare via its Cloudflare Radar platform highlighted a historic milestone for the internet: automated bot traffic has officially surpassed human-generated web traffic for the first time. The Numbers: Bot vs. Human TrafficBots (Automated requests): ~57.4% to 57.5% of global HTTP requests to HTML content.Humans: ~42.5% to 42.6% of global HTTP requests. While Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince had previously forecasted that non-human traffic would eclipse human traffic by late 2027, the rapid surge in autonomous systems accelerated the crossover significantly ahead of schedule
