Morgan & Peace 2026 Reverse Proof

OnastoneOnastone Posts: 4,374 ✭✭✭✭✭

These will be an instant sellout July 9'th

if they're not already gone with subscriptions. Dual dated! 250 Privy Bell. Reverse Proof finish. HHL of 10 each...but mintage of only 250,000 each. That's not many.

I'm not so sure. 250,000 is a lot for these. I have subs, but will probably cancel them.

The mintage for 2025 was 160,000 and they are STILL available even though they were $95 last year.

There are other Morgan and Peace coming as a set with the "diamond finish" at 160K and as enhanced uncirculated at 150K each still too and the price over silver spot is crazy high.

I think that the upcoming dual date enhanced uncirculated ASE at a mintage of 125K might be a better buy, if one can get over the premium to silver spot.

But I don't collect these dollars, so I wish everyone good luck, it sure seems like the Mint is pushing hard this year.

A lot of them will hit secondary mkt in TPG holders. Plan to buy a couple.

Tbh I don't understand why the program is still running. It's not the 100th anniversary anymore (well maybe for the Peace dollars still but not the Morgans)

I like 'em, although not liking the hyper inflated prices. I lowered my sub to 2 of each after the first year

Why can't they have a continuing coin series just because it is a continuing coin series? It doesn't have to be commemorating anything.

If it makes you happy, this year's offering in the continuing series IS commemorating the SemiQ!

Followed some google links… found this US Mint video: https://youtu.be/76SOQbbJgXE

Check out this screenshot from 56 sec in:

Is this what is meant by diamond finish? And is that going to be on the enhanced uncirculated?

I think the diamond finish will be for the coins in the two coin set.

A bit of both. It's been discussed on other forums recently. The mint's descriptions (under subscriptions for these) lists the enhanced uncirculated as "a beautiful enhanced uncirculated finish" and the two coin set as "stunning finishes". No mention of the diamond finish on the mint's site, as you said. But we'll see for sure soon enough.

Speculation on my part, but may be 2026 dated vs 1776-2026

The rendering with diamond like fields is very nice though and would be nice if produced

Yeah… I’m torn on these. I like the idea of adding some to my collection with different finishes, but they seem way overpriced. If they were closer to melt then I’d buy them for sure.

Nope, those are two different things:

And then the Reverse proof set that has the following mint Description (but they memory holed the picture a few days ago:
Key Features of the 2026 Issues Diamond Field Pattern: The background (fields) of these reverse-proof coins feature a striking, textured diamond pattern. Dual Dating: Both the Morgan and Peace dollars are dual-dated 1776–2026.Privy Mark: Each coin includes a special "250th Liberty Bell" privy mark to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary. Mint Mark & Silver: Struck in 99.9% fine silver with a "P" (Philadelphia) mint mark.

Place holder picture now inserted, was the pair a few days ago with a nice close up on the diamond finish:

Thanks for this info. Like this a lot and been going back and forth between enhanced unc. and RP. Feel this diamond field would be much better. Any chance captured a Peace rendering?

If they were willing and capable of striking them in the same finish and quality as the originals, I'd be more interested. The "diamond finish" looks silly, but I'm sure it's cheap to put on the dies and there are enough suckers out there who will double their expenditure as a result.

Well so much for my prediction of a sell out...these are just languishing , still available.

Seems like there is so much being offered by the mint, there isn't a lot of excitement being generated. Yes, the prices are much higher, over the top higher, and that may have an affect on sales too.

However, the new quarters seem to sell out each time.

It is quite easy to find comps for these coins. $179 is way over the secondary market value for the dollars with a mintage of 250k. They will be little more than bullion in a year, so people stayed away from them other than the people who absolutely had to have one for their collection. That number is much less than 250,000

I 100% think it’s the price. I would probably buy one if they are closer to silver price. With 0.859 oz of silver that’s about $50 at current silver price.

Well, you are wrong. It is 100% the mintage, because they have no problem selling other things at the exact same price. Just not 250K of them, other than proof ASEs.

And no numismatic product is sold anywhere near the silver price. If you want that, you want bullion ASEs. They make tens of millions of them, and sell them close to silver price.

If they made half as many of these, they would have probably sold out. But they are pigs, and thought 1776-2026 would make people grab 250K of them, at prices significantly higher than last year. And we have our results. 1776-2026 is pretty much played out now, other than on HSN with the Dan Carr overstrikes.

And, they never will, unless the Mint lowers the price, a lot, or we have another situation like last December where spot approaches intrinsic value before they have a chance to reprice.

At the same time, people are going to kill themselves tomorrow for the chance to buy a $1500 an ounce silver medal in the shape of a bell, because only 2,026 will be sold. Go figure.

Amazes me how many posts over the years have claimed they will buy at melt.....and i bet less than 2% actually do. Same folks who pass on buying 1/2 oz of silver today for $750.; not knowing they can flip the damn thing for $1250+ immediately.

Depends on the offering. Some do end up close to melt in a couple years. Most, actually. But some stay above that. The new calculus is different, however. The current price is 3x melt for most silver commems. The question is less about whether they get all the way to melt. Some will. But how many will hold the $120 premium is the question.

5 of 6 of mine have the philly oopsies. All 3 morgan have smudge on cheeks, Two Peace have similar smudge but in different direction. Machine caused ? Fat thumb employee, advance release dealer returns ? No clue, but pretty obvious once I deployed my glass.

    Luckily my 1916 1/4 oz 24k 25c is perfection, thus a keeper.

Couple years ago when I felt I had dead money tied up in 2023 Morgan & Peace proofs as they'd ebay for like $45-$55 a pop. That was under issue, thus my dead money perspective. I can usually break even on things if I have to thin the heard & I was looking to raise money to buy a couple pricey errors. Mint still has these 2023 in inventory now similar price, 3x silver spot. Thus way overpriced for sky high mintage.

    Happy Inspecting !

My 2 Morgan and Peace dollars came in on Monday and I wasn't able to look at them until I got home from work after 5am. I didn't see any distracting marks, as of yet. Granted lighting at 5 in the morning doesn't give you the best viewing options.

Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.

I am wondering if delay in initially shipping these out was due to dealer program buyers' returns ?

Mint saw them coming back in numbers and did a quick coin in box check and away they went again.

    These were worst reverse proof I received since 2023, 2024 & 2025.
    They used to be amazing.
