Surprised so many of the same "W" in single roll. Weren't they supposed to be mixed better into the general population to make them scarcer to find?
In 2019 they didn't really know how to mix them, several rolls had multiple W's, in 2020 they got better...> @JWP said:

Found these 3 war nickels today while searching 50 rolls of nickels.
1943-P, 1943-S, & 1945-S
They look like they’ve been in a war. Or freshly pulled from the pocket of a grease monkey at the local Phillips 66.
Nice finds now clean your coins 😛
You know that cleaning coins is not acceptable. If I send them to be graded, they will come back as detail - cleaned coins. Ha Ha
@JWP I found some clean ones today that you may like. PM me your shipping address and I will get them out for you.
The only catch, if you find something cool or worth more than melt you must post it here.
Have a good evening!
From the till at the CU—first-day Jefferson two-dollar bill postmarked April 13, 1976—not a pretty one though. Others have a nice bicentennial stamp in the upper right with a more distinctive mark. My interesting finds come flawed. Doughnuts for tellers next week—one teller, on vacation, holds some more dollars for me. (Fresh doughnuts cost me $1.50 each, no discount for quantity).
I saw something I considered odd today at my local credit union. Lady at the next teller down had a plastic bag full of dime rolls. She would hand each roll to the teller, the teller opened the roll, removed all the coins then counted them, one by one as she put them back into the rolls. Have people been cheating so much that customers are no longer trusted to turn in the right number of coins in a roll?
In the future, should I, when asking for customer rolled coins, open each roll in front of the cashier to make sure I'm getting the correct number of coins in each roll?
The amount of time it was taking the teller to go through each roll was causing a pretty significant back up of folks waiting their turns to do their transactions.
I have been shorted on customer wrapped rolls and also om OBW rolls from Loomis. It happens when the rolls are filled with trach coins and tokens. You can always take the coin wrapper and the trach items in the roll back to the bank/CU. They might refund you the missing coins. Some institutions' refuse to take coin rolls from customers for this reason also. It basically comes down to how much you want to chance by getting coin rolls from th bank or CU. Overall, my experience has been a mixed bag, but i will still get the coin rolls when I have the opportunity.

I've seen similar situations where the teller was removing the cents to count them before selling them to me.
It was a buzz kill as she sled them across her desk. After all I was looking for high grades not a 69 S.
Got some party favorites for the weekend. Mostly 1965 and 1970 sets 16 of which are sealed. Then the brown 1964 (and etc) proofs contain two Accents that I confirmed while scanning the lot looking for cameos.
I’ll post any goodies later…

Possible Full Steps 70 s. Will clean it up later and repost.
That should clean up real nice to a Gem reverse with FS. It might not get the designation because of the scratch at the bottom. I found about .12% FS and sold a couple for good money. This coin has potential.

What are you cleaning it with?
I wasn't sure if I should use brasso Actually was thinking ms70 but haven't any experience with nickels??
Not Brasso! If you use Brasso, you might as well use a Brillo Pad with it. 🤣 I'm thinking just acetone.
Okay, here it is with an MS70 Q-tip roll and easy pat dry...
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!
In my experience acetone is too slow and the film tends to come back after it's dry.

Some recent quarter finds that will eventually make their way west.
The 79 is like butter... whatever that means shot at 7+ maybe I don't know but 67 should be a shoe in.
@Coinscratch said:
Reshot a couple and added a couple though still working on white balance to show the true colors, sizing, and eventually backgrounds. etc.etc.etc.

Some recent finds. 1977 and 1978 opened box sets of 5 which, I usually wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.
But based on his other items for sale on the bay (non coin related) and the retail pricing of these I had to roll the bones.
couple more recents.
Finally got these off for grading last week and they’ve arrived safely. Not all made the cut and I’m zeroed in on a few for the best grades while as usual the rest are fafo. I’ll post results once they’re back home.
I found these in the same roll of circulated nickels This morning 7-06-2026
Both 2011-P with the "eyes" die clashed on the reverse.
I check all Jeffersons minted after 2005 for this possible die clash.
So far I have found the "Eye"-clashes on the following dates:
2011-P
2015-P
2017-P
2021-P
2022-P
2023-P
I have not found this on any Denver minted nickels as of yet. I do not know if any other dates with this die clash have been found.
When you open a roll of pennys what are your basic search criteria, in order.

Got this in a casino, yesterday!. This is the second "W" I have got in this casino.
Know any casinos that still have slot machines??
I think there's still one in Las Vegas. Slots-a-Fun or something. My slacker brother lives in Vegas. He knows some crazy lady that collects W quarters from change.
When in Rome (for pennies) customer wrapped rolls.
1. Cherry red high grade examples - only found 4 or 5 zincs that graded MS68 and fewer coppers that graded MS67 that are the criteria for making anything and out of thousands of rolls. Then I realized that you don't even get Price guide.
2. And I've had better luck with older original bank rolls.
3. Varieties & errors - Found a few but nowhere near enough to cover the hours involved - Not Even Close!
4. Wheat cents - Found plenty of these but nothing that would get me excited.
Hence moved on to mint sets which has been fun and maybe profitable as long as you find nice coins for grading and the resale of the unopened sets is fair. It's about the hunt so I don't keep actual profit loss statements. Although I am keeping better track now.
The tuition costs for grading isn't cheap but it's even higher until you learn where and where not to buy mint sets.

Brasso? The last time I used Brasso was in the Marine Corps about 50 years ago. 🤣
We'd like to see some before and after pics of that Brasso cleaning.

Hmmm, MS70?? Really? Okay, guess that's not bad. Looks good from there! 👍
Not a lot to report. Mostly silver at a good price so no love lost.
Got a 50-S Wheatie the other day in change.

I saw this on Threads and found it funny.

Wow and the buyer didn't notice?
I guess not 🤷 it seems like the person who posted it wasn't a coin person and didn't notice until it was too late.
Wow! This roll feels heavy must be full of silver...

This was the change from a voucher, not a slot machine. Most casinos have voucher cashers.
