Post your Lucite paperweights with coins inside…
I’ve always thought these were cool, I’ve been wanting one for a while, but I don’t want one where the coins inside are polished and you see that a lot, and it looks awful.
Go figure, I get two different ones in the same week!
The first one is cool because it was in its original cardboard box and the plastic is virtually new inside. It looks really cool… I got this one earlier in the week:

And then on Friday, I picked this one up, this one has lots of scratches from being on desks for many years, but it still looks pretty cool…

Let’s see yours!

Canadian centennial coins, complete with bubbles. Where’s the silver half-dollar?
Let me ask you guys a question. Let's make believe or hypothetically there was a rare date, error or variety inside one of those Lucite blocks. What would be the right method to remove it? Is there an easy way without using a jackhammer, gunpowder or fire? 🔥 😂
I recall there being some Fugio cents in lucite from the Bank of New York hoard

i saw a place somewhere where you can buy knockoffs set in acrylic as well, general info
I remember when the US Mint was selling the WWII commemorative coins back in the early 1990s, they sold an acrylic paper weight with the half dollar embedded inside.

Soak in acetone for a long time. The acetone will dissolve the Lucite and leave the coin unharmed.

$10 out the door when brought
Not that I have one but thanks @jacrispies 👍
Bought online with fuzzy photos; I was hoping for a 1972 Type 2 (!), but it's a Type 3.
How about the clear Lucite toilet seat with coins imbedded in it?
Not mine "butt" they are out there! 😆 😂
We had one walk into our Arizona shop maybe 20 years ago. The coin was clearly Unc, but dipped to an orange color.
“The Bank of Phoenix” and “The Bank of New York” were inside the lucite cube.

Got this in 1971 at the coin shop I worked at. One BU roll of 1955-D cents, my birth year. All the coins are original bright red MS63 to MS65. The images do not show the original red very well. We sold the toilet seats with coins and had dozens of different Lucite items. I'v had this 55 years now.
Had a busy weekend a couple weeks ago between flea markets and coin shops.
The IRA STEIN toilet lid/seat!!!
Currently on ebay.
Bought these directly from the Mint.

@heavymetal Can we see the rev of this please.
Here's the back of mine. Unfortunately, no die rotation.

The 1960s seem to have been the golden age of encasements. I especially like any that have writing on the encasement.
Do any of these coins ever get toned

Looks whizzed.
I love that Engelhard!
Even though it’s probably more valuable out of the plastic, I would leave it in there… That just looks so cool!

That’s cool I love the red copper still preserved inside, and, being my birth year, that’s just very very cool!
Thanks for posting 👍

With the hourglass inside and a BU Silver quarter, I just really like that!
That’s the kind of stuff that if I see it for sale, I’ll just grab because it’s usually very reasonably priced and it’s just fun!
Thanks for posting that! 👍

US Mint purchase
I found this Canadian coin in lucite in a coin shop in Orange CA. Oddly enough it’s from a promotion from a defunct bank from my home town in Canada.
After 62 years these coins still have a ways to go to be valued at $1000 by 2064. But there’s still time.
